Uh. What? So if we didn't "put our faith in scientists," the ice levels would magically be higher...?

Scientists weren't wrong about climate change - the models didn't show the effects of it occurring so quickly. Assumptions and predictions are challenged and changed all the time in science. Are you really this uneducated?

Remember when the left said polar bears would be extinct soon, but their population has exploded? Remember when Al Gore said in "An Inconvenient Truth" (2006) that polar ice could be gone in five years (still there) causing catastrophic sea level rise, and then went on to buy ocean front property? I am not saying man doesn't influence the climate and that we shouldn't care, we obviously can have an impact on the earth and environment we live, but as the left tends to do, most of their predictions are melodrama and scare tactics. Youtube is littered with climate change predictions of leftist scientists and politicians over the last four or five decades that have largely proven to be untrue.

Exactly my man. I get all my info from Youtube videos. That's where you find the real truth these days.

So if you accept the scientific reality of human-influenced climate change, why do you support the side that either rejects that reality or conveniently ignores it for the sake of fossil fuel industry bribes? Occasional panic notwithstanding, the left at least accepts a basic truth instead of trying to run from it.

"The left" said that? Can you point me to the spokesperson for "the left" giving the official line on polar bears? I think I missed that meeting. Also, can you point to a source for the claim that the polar bear population has 'exploded'? As far as I am aware it's quite difficult to count them reliably.

Your post is just a lot of vague unsubstantiated accusations at an undefined 'enemy'. Can you be more specific about these predictions from 'leftist scientists'.

Why, exactly, am I supposed to care about Al Gore's property deals? Al Gore means nothing to me.

So far the orthodox science has proved to be largely consistent with the accumulating evidence. Unlike the theories of the deniers. Of course, the deniers just conveniently shelve their arguments and forget all about them when they don't pan out (remember the 'sunspot activity' one? Even long after the evidence diverged from that theory, they continued to push it, via the cunning ploy of showing a graph that had a cut-off point before the point at which the correlation failed...now they seem to have forgotten they ever made that argument)

I’m not saying man doesn’t influence the weather, we obviously do, but please don’t forget that I was riddled with shame and guilt as a child that I need to suppress from my conscious awareness and will therefore need Antarctica to melt before my amygdala exhausts itself sufficiently for me to take it in. Please please, it’s not my fault the lord is dying. I didn’t do anything bad. And especially, don’t you try to take any of my money to fix it. You have no idea how inwardly poor my childhood left me. Please leave me alone so I can suck on Mommy Earth’s big titty. I’m sure i’ll come around one day, maybe. But meanwhile, please don’t scare me.

Jane you ignorant slut :D

This is merely the result of models perpetually playing catch up and not taking into account (at the moment) to things like those which have referenced in other threads. The take-home lesson is that things are happening faster than they want to believe. Waiting until 2050 to do a half-assed job is as unwise and an extinction level event which likely includes us is a rational concern.

Expect to see "we didn't know how bad it is" coming from the science of climate.

You think factual science is leftist yet the empirical evidence proves that to be more concerned about attacking it to defend your political faves who would lie to our extinction.

Al Gore? Please.

And I quote:

This is what happens when you put your faith in scientists who were all brainwashed by liberal colleges to push socialism. No different than religion IMO.

Looks like you caught one!

Although on closer inspection it seems small and damaged. Better throw it back. ;)

Thanks for the good laugh, Hayabusa. Al Gore is a talking tree!

Unfortunately the politicization of climate change is a result of the fact that it will take political action to help stop (or at least slow) man's abuse of our environment. What that entails is hard for everyone to agree on.

I think we do need to reign in the use of fossil fuels for one and stop using "clean" coal altogether. Sadly Im too addicted to cow meat to give it up though.

Slo has managed to find the one biologist in the world who doesn’t appear to ignore climate change, she does appear to say climate change is not impacting Polar Bears.

She also runs a blog that uses words like “owning Liberals” regarding climate change

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_J._Crockford

She is a qualified person to make statement, she just appears to be operating against the vast majority of her peers.

I have to admit to being amused by the guy who refers to immigration as an 'invasion' and a 'national emergency,' and whites as 'the real victims of racism,' claiming that other people are melodramatic and engaging in scare tactics.

Regarding the cow thing I’m assuming it’s about the unedited version of AOCs plan.
Even in the wrong version the claim wasn’t to eliminate cows or hamburger, it was to reduce cow farting by feeding cows stuff cows are supposed to eat which coincidentally makes the meat taste better. Grass fed steaks are certainly superior.

The question isn’t about Polar Bear extinction it’s about the weather is changing in ways that cannot easily be predicted.

Also from brief googling, two breeds of Polar Bears are rapidly expanding. Seventeen other breeds are contracting.

The claim was they'd be extinct. That is clearly wrong.

The people who falsely claim that efforts to stop climate change will force them to stop eating meat also want you to believe that climate change is melodramatic and a scare tactic.
