What a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Let's stop all science now since there might be the most miniscule risk or danger. If that was the case, we would still be living in caves. Just like some quacks thought that an atomic explosion would cause an out of control reaction, some idiots think that this collider will do the same thing. Not a chance......
I won't bother to point out those quacks you are refering to were some of the atomic scientists who thought the atomic explosion might just cause that out of control chain reaction.
ok?

The problem is scientists accept no responsibility for the technology they give us, or rather the taxpayers pay for. The military industrial complex is the benificiary of all this wasted taxpayer money 99% of the time. Then the private corporate sector gets all the patents and rights for taxpayer funded research projects. So the taxpayers get screwed that same 99% of the time, in the process.
All that pie in the sky feel good for humanity science community research BS is just that. You can paint as many smiley faces on the atomic bombs as you want to, the deadly effects are still the same. This large hadron collider project is 100% military in nature. But the scientists consider themselves civilians. So what?
The only way mankind will benefit at all from this project, is if the scientists destroy themselves in the process. I just hope they are not stupid enough to take us with it. But we will see. Give them a few years to tweak it a bit first. Then, once they get too cocky and careless, KERPOW!
And using the stupid fire and cave analogies made by various posters is a pretty weak juvenile argument to try to excuse scientific research for the obvious purposes of weaponizing and enslaving mankind, not helping it.
Holy shit you're an idiot. Go back to your Monster Cable.

You probably are in favor of making firearms illegal, too. After all, the gun manufacturers give us weapons, with minimal responsibility for the technology they give us.
Alcohol manufacturers, too. They give us the stuff, they're not responsible for what we do with it. Anything made by anyone that could possibly be dangerous should be outlawed, unless the company sends a representative out to babysit you, so that you won't get hurt by their product.

What are you talking about? There are none of the people from the Manhattan Project working on this (I'm not even sure if they're alive). And to point out- if we didn't make the A-Bomb, Germany would have, and we'd all be living in a Jewish Free world government with required moring Hitler worship services.
Once you get to a certain level of chance, it's the same as saying "no chance". Go take your meds.

On a Swedish chainsaw -- "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals." There must be a lot of confusion over there. I attempted to use my nose. No warning about that. Jeff7 once told me "Once the nose on your own face becomes visible, try looking past it."
But since I chopped it off on the chainsaw, I just use gag eyeglasses with a nose attached now.

WTH are you talking about?
I never said anything about the people working for CERN were the same old geezers working for the Manhattan project. And I didn't see him post that, either. That wasn't implied from what I read or posted.
I would recommend taking your own advice. But you can pass me a few pills when they finally fire this thing up, they must be strong!![]()

Your inability to respond to, let alone comprehend, the technical arguments presented to you doesn't help your case.
I dare say you're making a fool out of yourself.
Your only retorts seem to come out of the "Lame joke" category.

Most posters here in OT only reply to a post to be a smart ass in the first place. Google it, link it, and/or cut and past it, then add witty retorts and/or lame insults to any other poster who dares to express an opinion someone might not agree with. This passes for 90% of the content on OT. Or hadn't you noticed? I guess you had noticed, since you are now doing this yourself.
If you look at some of the braniac posters posts here, they pretend they are the Merlin's, Leonardo's and Einstein's of our time. Funny how there's so darn many multifaceted self promoting geniuses out there with so much free time to post crap, and no one ever heard of any of them. But that's OT for you. Enjoy.![]()

I bolded what I was replying to above. You said that those people and the present people are the same. When we first split the atom, the scientists were afraid of an out of control nuclear reaction. Maybe you were thinking about another time when they were worried about this?

OP's should be held to a bit of a higher standard, IMO.
You started the discussion, but now spout nonsensical ramblings instead of intelligently considering counterpoints made by others.
What was your point in creating this thread if you didn't want to have a real discussion? Just clamoring for attention?

Prove me wrong. Show us how the any particle accelerator research has ever been weaponized?
Show us how CERN is a military experiment?
Once we move past those basics, perhaps we can get you to address the issues of Hawking Radiation on extremely small gravitational singularities.
