Science is not a "belief". It is a method for systematically explaining things based on observation and experimentation. Creationism, on the other hand, is pure bogus fairytale.

I am a staunch scientist through and through.

However, I do believe that there's more to this world than we'll ever know. I don't believe in a literal biblical creation though.

I guess I like the idea of what the pope calls "theistic evolution"

Examine why you think there ought to be more to the world. The fact that something makes you feel good doesn't increase its probability.

well, it's not a matter of feeling good about something.

I just think that human understanding will probably never grasp all that there is out there in the universe.

And to think, 60% of the American Population believe in Creationism, and 60% surveyed believed in Young Earth.

That's an absolute shame. It's funny how Americans wonder how Islamic countries can revert to religious extremism after being civilized for a few hundred years, and now the US is on the verge of doing the same thing.

Haha, damn, no religious fanatics to make dumb arguments that make no sense except to themselves and their fellow fanatics

Well, that should be the end of the thread, but we know it's not going to be. The bible-freaks are never shy about jumping in to prove their cluelessness.

Poll is broken since there is no option for us fence-sitting wishy-washy flip-floppy agnostics.

"Who knows?"

Evolution is our best explanation for the natural laws behind the origin of species, but science can neither prove nor disprove the existence of forces or beings working outside of natural law.

The bible as literal truth with a young Earth is of couse crazy talk. Dinosaurs did not all die out in the flood.

An agnostics is nothing but an atheist without the courage of his convictions. If you "don't know" that means that you don't believe. You're an atheist, just come out of the closet and admit it.

An atheist is nothing but an agnostic with blind faith in the cnon-existence of anything outside of natural law.

"I do not believe X" =/= "I believe not-X."
