Schools out and can't get over fatigue

hellfreeze

Golden Member
I'm currently 2.5 years into college, and up until a few months ago was going to work and school full time. School let out last week, but so far this week I can't help but to sleep in and lounge around all day. I feel like I don't have any energy.

I know some fatigue is expected, but is this amount of fatigue normal? How long does it usually take to recoup? I know there's no definite answer, but I'm wondering what you guys have experienced.

Even in school I tend to be pretty fatigued without artificial energy products pumping through my body. I think I might have sleep issues, because it is maybe a once a month phenomenon where I actually wake up feeling ready for the day. Waking up late has kind of become my own little temporary solution, without even mentally being aware of it I think (I just came up with this notion, and I blame my unconscious mind)... when I wake up late, and have to be somewhere really early (every weekday, damn ROTC), then I scatter around like a bug trying to get ready on time, and then the race to get their on time gets my mind a little rejuvenated. And then as soon as I get back home, unless I have a test I need to study for immediately, I am like ugh... and tend to take an unplanned nap on the couch.

Even on weekends, unless I get out of the house for awhile, even after sleeping in, it's like ugh...

I think I'd kill to have the ability to wake up refreshed 3/7 days, let alone every day.

Heh that won't help too much. When I drink I tend to stay up late, further worsening the problem.

Yes, but at least you'd know WHY you're tired all the time.

Your generation seems to be full of non hackers who are either tired or can't make a decision. Why don't you just man up, pull your skirt up and wait for the first guy who walks by to pork you?

Haha nice. At least my generation, which still remains unsaid, knows better than to open up a flame war in OT.

I was just asking to see how long it takes other people to recover after a semester. I wasn't complaining that no one loves me, there's not enough emo music to go around, and that my pants are too tight. That's a different generation. Probably the one you're referring to.

But, in the interest of keeping things interesting, how about I take you out to dinner? Now that should get some interesting replies from people.

He's not the dating type.

BTW, if you're so exhausted from the semester, how do you manage the strength to post this?

I'm not so exhausted that I can't do anything. I guess I wasn't clear in my original post. I'm lounging around all day, aka being lazy. Doing senseless things like using the computer, video games, running errands say, etc I'm fine with. I don't have my usually energy to say mow the lawn, wash my car, etc. Just wondering if this was normal after a semester and if it took say, a week, for most people to get back to the norm.

Energy drinks.

Yup. I probably drank too many during finals week.

His testicles fell off last week so he's a little crabby.

I remember when I graduated it took me a few months to recover from the stress and come to the realization that it's over, for good, and that I'm free. It's such a huge change in life that it takes a while to fully recoop. What a great feeling it was though...

Funny thing is, I've been done for 2 years and I still get the occasional dream about school, usually something like forgetting to do an assignment and I start to panic that it's due that day etc... then I wake up in relief. 😛 Funny stuff.

Wait till it's near the end of august and you're sitting in the office in your new job, realizing September is going to be a month like any other. That's when you realize life after school is great.

Lies, lies, it is my vagina that fell off last week and I can't enjoy the bliss of menopause, you bastard!

As to the OP, I'm up for a lunch date if you're paying. I have to warn you, though, that I can drink a lot of beer with a hot dog. Are you sure you can afford it?

I just finished my first semester after being out of school for 2.5 years. I went to school full time and worked two different jobs for an additional 30 hours a week. I've felt the same way for about a week and a half but I'm not really worried about it. I just figure it's my body's natural reaction to being free from the stress of finals and whatnot for the first time in 4 months. That and I seem to give myself the OK to "celebrate" after work quite often.

Just roll with it for another couple days and then maybe start setting an alarm and making a to-do list for the day? I love to-do lists - they really help motivate me!

If only there was a forum section for things like this. You know, a section that was dedicated to matters of health and fitness.

edit: Holy shit, I just became that guy. oh well.

You answered your own question. Get up and do something, join a gym, go jogging or swimming. You'll feel like a million bucks after getting some exercise.
