I know some fatigue is expected, but is this amount of fatigue normal? How long does it usually take to recoup? I know there's no definite answer, but I'm wondering what you guys have experienced.

Right after school let out, I started working full time. I had half a week to recover between my last final and work starting, I guess. I didn't just lounge around all day and sleep though.

I think a half a week to a week of break is normal before you begin your next activity. If you feel like you can't do anything after a week, you are just being lazy.

That said, I'm always tired and lack energy. It is probably due to my diet/sleep habits/lack of exercise. I need to get in shape.

Sounds more like apathy, not tiredness. You need something to motivate you. I have no suggestions since I am currently in a similar state.

Get back into shape? If you are lazy your body's ability to generate energy decreases. Increase the efficiency of ATP production. Get on a regular sleep schedule. Sleep till you wake up. Eat foods that are good and healthy for you.

I was like this at one point...except I could actually get myself to study. I went from sleeping 6 hours a night and full of energy b/c I ran a lot (40+ miles not counting a weekend run which would be 10-12 miles), to sleeping 12 hours a day and waking up extremely tired. It was my diet and the total lack of exercise that caused it because I spent so much time studying....ooor I spent my 'free time in efficiently' (things like neffing on atot lol) ;)

If you can maintain good, vigorous exercise each day, each right and healthy, and sleep on a consistent schedule you'll find big differences in just a month. I literally 'sleep in' every day and I never worry about missing work because I always wake up early. Even if I go to bed at 11PM, I'll wake up on my own ~ 7AM without any alarm interference.

So just get those three things down. If you can eat more normal, if you can sleep, and if you can exerscise then things will change. You can still be the lazy bitch for the rest of the free time, but you'll quickly find all your energy and mental abilities returning to you
