“My mouth dropped,” Smith said Wednesday. “I was blown away. I couldn’t believe that they would want my kid to pick out the difference between a bigger person compared to a small person.”

But the assignment didn’t say bigger or smaller. Kindergarteners from University Place Primary were asked to circle the image that best resembled the word “fat.” The correct one involved the cartoon image of an overweight girl.

“I told her she wasn’t going to finish it,” Smith said. “I didn’t want it finished. I didn’t want her looking at it.”

University Place School Superintendent Patti Banks said Thursday that she thought the girl’s mother had “a legitimate cause for concern.”

No, parent, you are in the wrong here. The rise of obesity in this country has corrupted our perceptions of what a healthy body type actually looks like. You will not help by trying to coddle your child from reality. Proper health education should start at a young age, to instill good habits from the get go.

The children's obesity epidemic will continue until parents can actually be honest and recognize that their little angel is actually fat.

I would think the fact that kids are really as big as that picture depicts would be a "a legitimate cause for concern."

I also find The Biggest Loser to be hideous. Fat people offend me and make me sad. We should all stop looking at them.

Like what? I don't watch the show. I'm just curious.
I think they are very keen on making huge people, who have zero experience working out, perform HIIT and other mindless exercises. Of course, it wouldn't be as much fun to watch if it was just them totalling up their macros for the day 😀

I've only seen one episode, though.
