What don't you get? As a medical professional, she is legally required to report to the police if there is threat of impending violence to others. It doesn't matter if she is mistaken about what she heard. As long as she believes that there is a threat, she is bound by law to call it in.

ooh man, will smith rapping on a voicemail is such a clear threat of impending violence to others.

she was a fucking idiot. there is differences between a song even if it has such lyrics (wich wtf fresh prince of bel air?) and a actual threat.

I feel sorry for teh police that had to look into this idiotic situation. i feel sorry for the kid that it happened to. I feel sorry for the place that this women works at. they are getting flack for something a idiot do.

Why the F did the police need to detain him for 3 hours? It would have taken 5 minutes to listen to the ringtone and realize the nurse was a dumbass.
That's the first thing I thought too. Good practice in case of a real emergency? I would fear a real emergency if they couldn't figure this one out in 5 minutes or less.

She followed the law which requires her to report if she thought that there was danger of violence. She obviously felt that there was enough danger to warrant calling the police. Better for the kid to be detained for 3 hours than for the nation to see another school shooting with multiple deaths.

Sorry kid, pick a better song next time.

Almost 2 years and I still can't figure out when you're trolling and when you're just being stupid.

So, stupid. o_O

Yep! I'm pretty stupid compared to some others. Only got 234 on my USMLE Step 1 with 1 month of studying. Didn't go to lectures at all in 2nd year med school. 3rd year is easy as shit. 4th year gonna be a breeze. :p

But damn, some kids get 280s in their step 1. I guess some people really have good study habits. As well as being geniuses. I'm amazed as how smart some of my colleagues are.

I do not recommend cramming a whole course in one night while skipping out on all the lectures. Definitely doable as I did it multiple times throughout second year med school. What happens is that I get a P or HP, rarely an honors. Would get honor if I bother to go to the lectures, but I just played games all day, browse the net, watch movies and anime. Love League of Legends. Best game for me for sure.
3rd year is more of a pain in the ass because you need to show up early and get your notes done. I can write a detailed note in ~5 minutes. Looking up labs and examining the patient adds in another 15, so it's 20 minutes per patient. With 4 patients it's a pain in the ass because you have to show up early enough to be ready to go on rounds with your resident, which happens very early in the morning.

I feel sorry for the residents, because they're working their ass off. I also respect them very much because a lot of them really care for their patient's well being. This is true with the residents I got. I guess I was lucky in that respect.

Taking time off right now after 3rd year because I want to build my business and get some patents in. I didn't want to do residency as I didn't want to be working ~80 hours a week when I know I can make a lot more money doing intellectual properties and business. I am a firm believer in efficiency; work smarter, not harder. I'm confident in my business and patents. Pretty sure I can repay my med school debt without needing to go to residency or working as a doctor. I tell my wife that I will finishing the MD degree for fun, but only after I finish the majority of the setup on my business.

For the lulz:

http://thebillfold.com/2012/09/how-to-get-away-with-being-bad-at-your-job-service-edition/

How To Get Away With Being Bad At Your Job (Service Edition)

Customer service! When it’s good it’s good, when it’s fine it’s good, and when it’s bad it can ruin your whole experience—BUT ONLY SOMETIMES.
EXAMPLE ONE – OKAY
I got breakfast on Saturday at a place that had pretty shitty service, but it was FINE because the dude was super busy and he was obviously doing the best he could. He also had a great smile and made some little jokes when he did finally circle around. ALLOWED. Would go again, sure.
EXAMPLE TWO – NOT OKAY
Yesterday I got a bloody mary and some fries at bar in a hotel in Brooklyn with five thousand employees, five patrons (at that early hour), and shitty service. BUT, the shitty service did not come with a smile, instead it came with terrible energy because everyone was ACTIVELY, LAUGHABLY RUDE AND MISERABLE. It was like someone had given them all direction to act as terrible as possible. I still had fun because friends and also triumph of the human spirit. But that place sucks so hard that I won’t go back even if someone else is paying (big), and EVEN MORE TELLING, I was ALMOST tempted to write a Yelp review.

SO, IN CONCLUSION: You can be terrible at your job and get away with almost anything if you’re nice.

P.S. I didn’t pay for either of these outings because of a combination of generous friends (<3 you, generous friends) and the take turns rule (you get this round, I’ll get the next). But if I had paid, I would have tipped 20% at both places, because wages are set with that expectation and it’s the right thing to do. But I wouldn’t have overtipped NOPE.

yeah like a school shooter is going to make a song about it and use it as voicemail....
also who's even got a voicemail machine anymore, everybody has email.

Your doctor emails you about your appointments? You do know that cellular mobile telemephones have voicemail computerized systems?

Let's assume it was the kid talking, not the ring tone. You think singers are dangerous?

Or his previous screenname?

:sneaky:

It's kind of like having TheFlyingPig around...but with a lot of extra Poe's Law mixed in.
