School Lunch

Lunch is usually $1.75 at my school. You get it on a blue little tray that's divided up into sections. The lunch ladies dish out the entrees, but you do the salad, fruit, etc yourself. The smart kids (like myself 🙂) realized that if you squeeze the entree into one of the little 3"x3" compartments, you can fill up the big 3"x6" compartment w/ salad (all measurements are eyeballed). We've gone through the whole year like this.
So yesterday, the lunch lady tells my friend that he has to pay extra if he's going to get a bigger salad. This is sort of questionable to begin w/ (maybe he should have a nice ice cream or candy bar instead of that salad), but it gets worse. Today we get in there, and salad an additional dollar. All salad is an additional dollar, not just our extra large salad. They have replaced the 3"x"3 compartment of salad w/ a scoop of canned corn, because iceberg lettuce is "too expensive" lately. I haven't been the the grocery store lately, but WTF? Because lettuce is more expensive than normal, we get corn? And how the hell expensive is it, $1.00 for the 3x3" compartment of salad?!

Does anybody else have a problem w/ this? Who should I complain to, student council, the high school administration, the school board, the state?

Please excuse any spelling/grammar mistakes. My lack of green vegtables has left me too tired to proofread 😉

gasp !!!! choking to death from trying to laugh and swallow coffee at the same time, lol !!! 😀

Sorry. I couldn't help myself. Send me the cleaning bill.

Let me see if I have this straight. The entire school year you have been scamming the school by cramming your entree into one section of the tray and then loading up on salad in the larger section, now the school is calling you on your scam and raised the price of salad for everyone in order to cover the extra expense that you have caused them and now you are pissed about it? Is that right? If so you have a bright future as a Democrat.

It's a plot! A conspiracy! Get in touch with Jerboy and fight this!!!! It's the damn "cespool" of free lunchers that are causing this!

stop complaining, you are one of the "smart kids" who caused this, i guess you'll just have to eat lunch without salad, or cough up a dollar for it.

coffee?
AH!
It's 12:40!
I'm going to bed

HAHAHA, the 4 of us using the big compartment for salad have sent the district into debt. To incur the extra few ounces of salad, the whole school needs to pay a dollar a day. Assuming the entire school buys "enhanced" lunch, the district will have over $1000/day to blow on lettuce. <sarcastism>That'll never cover all that salad we ate this past semester.</sarcasm>

ewwww....
i hate school lunch. Why don't you just buy a head of iceburg lettuce($.75) and some dressing($3.00) and then bring your own salad. You'll be getting something that's alot fresher and I wouldn't worry about dying from eating it....

I love having an open campus, no more eating in the school cafeteria for me😀

Wendys and Taco Bell are great, along with the occansional KFC or Sonic.

While you're at it, find someone whose on free lunch and tell him/her "thanks to y'all free lunchers, we have to pay extra now" in your most sarcastic voice.

I don't know if this is how it's done, but let me add my thought.

It could be that, say there are ten students paying for their lunch and ten freeloaders(eating off of stranger and community's expense). If you pay $1.75 per lunch, ten people pays for their lunch and cafeteria has to serve twenty meals: 1.75 x 10/20, the expense per plate must be 87.5cents.

<< the last time i remember eating lunch in school was in the 8th grade. i miss cafeteria food! >>

As bad as it tastes, it's supposed to be good for you than McDonald's. Two years ago, I called up the person in charge of school meal at district managenent office when I did a project for my health class. School lunch is rather low on fat. Instead of fried various potato products, they're baked and unnecessary stuff like butter isn't provided.

be happy you have self serve lunches at your school. my school had prepackaged tiny ass over priced stale ass food. it was totally sad.

The States are in a budget crunch. When this happens they start squeezeing from the bottom up.....nothing new here. Probably those ladies have been told to cut their food budget.
