Haha if you can get any size salad for the extra dollar you should get thbiggest ass salad you can fit on your plate. At my highschool we paid the same for a salad + fries as a hot lunch. People would fill all the comparments sky high with salad and you would have like 2 lb salads for lunch.

Free lunches have been much maligned without the true facts. The school
districts are reimbursed $2.09 for each "free" lunch by the USDA. Paid
meals are reimbursed $.20 for each meal. Other foodstuffs worth from
$.16 to $.35 are given for each meal. Therefore, jerboy is hitting us
taxpayers for at least $.36 per day for his meal. If his school did not
participate in the free lunch program he would pay full price. Also,
rather than the "free lunches" costing his school, the school gains
additional revenue by participating in the program.

Should the government use taxpayer money to feed schoolchildren? Taxes
collected will be spent on something, on children or to study the
growing traits of beets or the mating habits of the mosquito.

How dare you confuse this issue with facts. Now Jergirlboy will have to find something else to get its panties in a wad about.

Man. I wish I could get a good lunch that cheap nowadays. :)

IMO: If you eat it all, fine. But if you toss it because you felt like doing some experimentation, or just take it because "it was there", YOU SUCK.

The school is probably cracking down a bit because lettuce is unusually expensive right now. I work with schools and know that, that kind of stuff really adds up. My wife is a produce manager and tell me that it is $2 per head and relatively very expensive.

Like I said, eat up and enjoy. I'm a tax payer and think that lunch at school is a pretty good priveledge. But I think it is a priveledge and too many wankers sh!t on it by wasting it and take it for granted. Many of us that don't get it anymore sure think back nostalgically(sp?) about it.

<< be happy you have self serve lunches at your school. my school had prepackaged tiny ass over priced stale ass food. it was totally sad. >>

I've seen teens serve themselves. I would only be thankful for self-serve if I was the first to be served. :)
