Scariest moment ever for you in a game.

I was just thinking about it, name it PC or Consol.

Here is a example that I laugh at where a guy get freaked out playing fear. You can see the fear growing till it turns to terror lol

There are two types of scares for me.

Deep Deep scared/dread that starts in your stomach and makes you feel sick: Would have to be silent hill 2 especially right after you go down that stairway that’s about a mile long and you hear something and you know pyramid head is somewhere CLOSE but you are not sure of what it is for sure. Didn’t help that I was home alone when playing this at night, big empty house.

Jump out of chair scare: Fear 1: When you go down a ladder and see Alma’s feet that scares you bad and then you panic and fall down the ladder and just start to recover and wham Paxton Fettle is 1 foot in front of your face, I jumped out of my chair yelling when that happened.

Runner up: Fatal Frame- I still think it’s strange on how scary a game that has you taking picture of ghosts can make one jump so much.

Every few months I think naaa games can’t scare my anymore and play something just to see if it can, and slowly it will scare me. I always choose to play them at night when I am by myself in my house for the best effect.

So list yours and how big of a reaction did you have even better list what part of the game it was at.

I agree with Silent Hill 2, definitely remember that part..

About to play through Amnesia, so I'm sure there will be a few more dread moments to add from that.

For now I'll have to add a moment in Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. While the whole game is still building up to more horror at this point, there was something on Day 5 of the game that reaaally creeped me out.

As soon as Gabriel walks to the book store, there is a creepy mofo that is staring straight into the window. He doesn't move, he just stares. You can even get Gabriel to yell at him through the window, but he doesn't budge.

Here's a clip with the creepy guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1uOfsQDKXA

Level 8 in Doom 2. I picked up the chainsaw at the end of a long corridor, and the wall in front of me opened with a Hellknight about 1 foot from me. I nearly jumped out of my chair, and ran like crazy in the opposite direction.

Eternal Darkness.... the bathtub scene.

Edit: I'm currently playing Amnesia, which I can only play like 20 minutes at a time because of how scary it is. But that one little part from Eternal Darkness with the bathtub still goes down as one of the most memorable horror moments for me. (This is coming from someone who's played Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc)

stupid now but back in resident evil 1, walking down a hallway and the stupid dogs crashed thru the windows to attack you, first time EVER i dropped my controller gaming LOL

Resident evil 2, licker through glass interrogation room window. 😱

Good one .. mine is also RE2, walking down a hall, fuckin zombie busts through the boarded up window....you weren't expecting it with the crows flying around, already keeping you a little on your toes...shit, I had to have been 10 when I played that, haha.

Doom 3, the mirror in the beginning. The fun part is that I was not playing the game. I was watching TV while my roommate was playing the game and he had a wireless mouse. It startled him so much he threw the mouse and it went right by face.

I was seriously just about to say this one. I still think of it as the scariest jump out at you moment.

I've been playing Amnesia on and off and that's the scariest all around game I've played.

Expected to see this. It was so cheap yet so powerful.

That scene got me good. I was playing the demo in grade 8 with the lights off at night in the basement. I didn't play again for a week.

I noticed that once you start getting the more powerful guns the scare factor drops tremendously. If you had that POS shotgun for the whole game then...well...I don't even want to think of it, lol.

FEAR 1

When you first go down the sewer. You start hearing a little girl giggling and then running pass a hall. The hair on the back of my neck must have stood straight up.

A Boo! moment was when you're going down a ladder, you turn around and she's right in your face.

Another scene that freaked me out was when the ghostly figures kept coming at you. Reminded me of all the nightmares I had as a kid of dark figures coming towards and chasing me.

The first time that damned headcrab jumped at me from a side vent in Half Life 1.

This!^^

Also, the 1st time I saw a Bloodsucker in that underground tunnel in STALKER, and the 1st time I came across a Controller in the Lab X18.. or was it X16? That horrifying scream, sent shivers down my spine. The funny thing is that later in the game I decided to go to lab X18 again, because I missed a quest item and wanted to get it, even though all the monsters were dead this time, the scream of the controller triggered the 2nd time as I was approaching that same room and I jumped.... I had absolutely no idea that this could possibly happen. again...

Penumbra scared me so much, I could only play through first 20 min of the game before I stopped playing completely. Hoping to get back to it again.

Deadspace... I really tried with this one, but eventually it got to me. Too scary...

Doom 3. The headless zombies freaked me out completely. Also the cold, black eyes of those monsters that were like mages.. The ones that could spawn imps out of nowhere.

Doom3 in the beginning creeped me right the fuck out. Hearing the marines dying on the radio, right after you go to try and find the missing scientist. It was probably just my sleep deprivation, but I was cowering under a staircase in the game trying to work my nerve up enough to go and see what happened.

Somebody else mentioned the abandoned Hotel level from Vampire: Bloodlines, and I'd have to agree. That one was pretty creepy overall.

hmmm, scarriest moment, probably Planescape Torment. That dude had a lot of scars, he'd been killed like 5000 times.

This is so true, your fear reaches a point where it overflows and you back yourself into a corner in the game and just wait it out for a while ready to blast anything that moves and scream.

Kind of like this guy, who get so scared at a point that he starts looking around in his own room. NSFW language warning. Posted in orig post also.

Unreal 1. Exiting first area through stone hallway when both ends got blocked and the lights went off. When the creature jumped out from the hidden compartment I just about messed myself. I was finger fumbling the keys and couldn't aim the mouse straight. Got me good.
