From Best Buy circular 11/24.

Visioneer 5800 $49.99 less $35 rebate. Minimum 15 per store. no rainchecks.

600 x 1200 dpi optical resolution; 48-bit color. USB.

Heh, I was just going to post about this. Bump for a good deal. I'll be going to Best Buy this morning to pick one of these up.

wow... heck of a deal if you're looking for a basic/starter scanner. the software alone should be worth more than $15

i have this scanner. not tooooooo great. but like other's have said its a beginner scanner.
$15 is just about right ;D. the software is alright... nothing fancy. the resolution... doesnt seem as clear as 1200x600dpi... dunno why.

Just a question...

Is this the same one as the one being advertised for Big Lots. They are selling some Visioneer scanner for 39.99. I think I heard it was a 5800. I wonder if Best Buy would do the pm and get it it for 5 after MIR. Can someone do the research?

If you were following some of the Big Lots threads you would have noticed for some reason the scanner they offer varies by location. Maybe you need to do the research and go there and look to see what model it is in your area.

This is an awesome deal. I have two of these, and willingly paid the $50 retail price for the 2nd one after picking up the first one for $19.95 after rebate. I am sure there are better scanners available, both of mine work great and are so much faster than my old Optic Pro 9630P parallel port scanner.

omG! i have the optic too! damn didnt think any one else did. lol. that thing is so bulky and old... they dont even have drivers for winXP cuz they discontinued it... lol.

They had plenty a my local BB. Used a 10% off from Maxim/Blender pg 117 to drop it down to $10 AR. It comes with PaperPort Version 7 software. I'm already using version 8 on my old Visioneer 4400, and think the newer version 8 is wrth it. Seems like a good basic scanner, especially 🙂😀for making copies of all those rebate receipts.

I just came back from Best Buy. I downloaded the latest drivers, plugged-in the scanner, and everything is working great (running under Win2K). The quality and speed is great for my use.

Two-thumbs up for this deal. Now let's just hope the rebate goes through (heck, even for $50 it's a pretty good scanner).

there are two 35 dollar MIR rebates posted on bestbuy.com. i wonder if we can use both! requires original upc though

They're advertising both rebates on the website. Ordered one and expect both rebates. They have different offer numbers. Free shipping.

I think my Optic Pro is older than you guys'. 4800. Wish I'd known about this this morning cause I was in the BB neighborhood picking up a hot deal on a rotary tool (same forum 😀 ). I wonder if they'd have them now. I only scan once in a while, but this Optic Pro is very slow, is PP, and the driver is laughably sparse. I don't even use their updated scanning software (Photomagic), but use the original ImageIn software. Well, it works, running Win2000 with their NT driver I got off the Internet somewhere.

Where's the maxim coupon code? I cant find it anywhere online

Got my Best Buy to price match Big Lots - $11.77 back from $53.49 = $41.72 less $35 rebate = $6.72 cost including taxes. Hmmmm - now about that second rebate that's online............ 🙂

They posted both rebates on their website. That's good enough for me. I'll send in one copy (if I wanted to be rude, a really good copy glued to some torn cardboard so as to look original).

I can't guarentee you'll get your rebate, but I'm expecting mine. Good luck.

This deal may have just gotten a whole lot hotter, I just got off the phone right now with the Best Buy rebate center, and the rep says that since the rebate offers are different numbers, then it looks as though I can probably go ahead and do both $35 rebates.... but she's a little unsure if they'll accept a copy of the UPC for one of the offers, she says just to write on the copy that the "original UPC was used for offer such and such", and she also said there's a good chance it will work, but "it's not a gurantee."

I reccomend doing this quickly in case 1 of the rebates gets pulled off the website.

dang i hope this works though:

- 53.86 (CA tax included)
+35.00
+35.00
- 00.31 (stamp)
- 00.31 (stamp)
-----------
+15.52 Profit.
