Scandal mongering by Dems proving futile..

well lets see, in an effort to obstruct the Bushies from getting their political agenda accomplished, the Dems have thrown one purported scandal after another against the wall, hoping one might stick.

I give them cudos for a strategy of harrassment and distraction to try and stop the President.

recap of their efforts:

The Tom Delay is a crook gambit....oops...by the same criteria most Dems end up being crooks, including the Dem leadership (better redact those travel reimbursement vouchers!!)

The Bolton is a meanie gambit.....end run by Bush...game over

The judges are to radical to confirm...."radical" judges confirmed.

The Patriot Act is heinous!!....overwhelming passed by the Congress (inluding Dems) after bombing in London (geez, could the timing have been any worse for the Dems?)

Karl Rove is a traitor!!....ooops, Wilson outed as a complete liar and CIA ok'd story identifying Wilson's wife as CIA soccer mom..plus, nobody cares.

Guns are bad....legislation protecting gun makers..overwhelming passed (Dem leadership, eldest Democrat Senator, and richest Dem Senator (Rockefeller) vote for it!!)

have i left anything out?

Yes, you did.

Go backto 1992- 2000 and it sure sounds like you are talking about the republicans and their collective boners against the Clinton administration. BFD, get over it. The minority party always does this, no? Fast forward to 2008, and hit the rewind button again. The republicans will be all over Hillary and her administration, too. The repubicans are just much more efficient in their whining. Golf clap.

Ummm...

Do you not remember all the times Clinton was investigated? There was pretty much one investigation after the other. They got so desperate they started to investigate what was happening in his personal life begind closed doors.

As far as the Wilson/Rove/Plame.

1) You are the only one who does not care about it ( well maybe Rush, Coulter, and a few others along those lines )

2) If Wilson did out his wife why is he not under investigation by the DOJ? Why are not other senators asking for an investigation on Wilson? You know why BECAUSE HE DID NOTHING WRONG! Add in the Right will investigate if you are getting some action on the side why will they not investigate this ?

the dems are desperate for power, nothing is sticking and until they pull their heads out of their self rightous asses and quit being led around by the lunatic left they'll continue to lose power and scramble to figure out whats wrong. Well I can tell you right now whats wrong, we dont wanna live in socialist europe, quit trying to turn us into europe. We dont want a weak military or economy so quit trying to ruin those things.

Oh STHU. Democrats aren't interested in weakening our military, you repugs are the ones trying to weaken our military one dead soldier at a time. And your comment on dems weakening the economy is laughable. What has your side done to strengthen it? Hmm?

I don't understand why Republicans are surprised by the Democrats holding them to account. It always has been the job of the opposition to critique the governing party; this is nothing new, it occurs in every democracy (conservatives are the same way in Canada). Fact is, most of their concerns have some validity and writing it off is total denile on your part. If you can list off every single criticism placed on your "home team", all you are doing is proving how partisan you are, and unwilling to change. All organizations and businesses have areas to improve and problems, political parties are nowhere near immune to this.

HS, I ask you...If the roles of the parties were reversed, would you support Republicans criticizing the Democrats? What excuse would you put on these actions?

Karl Rove is a traitor!!

Well, we agree on something.

....ooops, Wilson outed as a complete liar and CIA ok'd story identifying Wilson's wife as CIA soccer mom..plus, nobody cares.

Increase meds X 2. Or did you miss Bobby Novak cracking on CNN? What is Miller hiding?
The other shoe has yet to fall.

Re Joe Wilson:

He very publicly defied the Iraqi strongman by giving refuge to more than 100 US citizens at the embassy and in the homes of US diplomats - at a time when Saddam Hussein was threatening to execute anyone who harboured foreigners.

He then addressed journalists wearing a hangman's noose instead of a necktie.

He later told the Washington Post newspaper that the message to Saddam Hussein was: "If you want to execute me, I'll bring my own fvcking rope."

Thereby displaying more balls and initiative than Karl Rove (chikenhawk) has ever wet dreamed of.

According to the Dems his Bolton appointment was "It?s a devious maneuver that evades the constitutional requirement of Senate consent", even though recess appointments are mentioned in the Constitution!!!

A mere 5 years, and the Dems have completely forgotten the Clinton administration.

Nice to see you're back, HS- we needed somebody to replace RIP...

If you're going to troll, at least do so with a little class- offer some links, particularly the bit about Plame... nah, nevermind, it's just a distraction from the central issue on that, anyway... don't look at the perps, look at the victims...

It's like the old gambit wrt rape victims- "Dressed like that, she was asking for it!" How lame.

They keep touting those Tax checks for the rich.
Amazing how far they can whip a dead horse forward over the sheeple.

Christ, both parties do this, it's called politics. Surely you remember when Clinton was in office?

BTW, what's the Vegas odds on HS getting a swift ban after his comeback?

Rational though in a partisan world!

Would be interested in this answer too because cannot use the religion argument.

Just what would be his excuse???

i don't recall the Republican's giving Ginsburg a hard time during her confirmation hearing (and she was an attorney for the ACLU.....but for many of you i suppose that means she was "mainstream"

i never said that politics weren't played by both sides...i'm just commenting on the "lack of traction" that the Democrats are enjoying in their current round of harasssment tactics..

the folks who should get banned are those that attack individuals and call them names....
i don't believe i have attacked anyone personally in my posts...

on the other hand, many of you would benefit from a "time out" for hte language you've used against me.

Awww!!!...heartsugeon can't take the criticism on the internet forum...

You complain about the criticism coming from the Democrats and fail to address the criticisms made by Republicans against Democrats, hell...this applies to some Republicans as well (like McCain).

Hypocrite at best, oops...should i be given a "time out"?

I'm not touching this kool-ade.

Republicans spent 8 years investigating and attacking Clinton. Republicans believed they were in the right. Whether it was for political motivations or legitimate concerns over illegal activities is debateable. If you were on the right you thought there were reasons to go after a guy for perjury and campaign fund raising violations. If you were on the left you thought it was a witch hunt and it was all about sex.

Ditto for Dems today. I personally don't see much of a difference in what is happening now vs. what was happening from 92-00 when it comes to scandal mongering. Both sides are obsessed with it.

Approving (or rather not approving) presidential nominees and obstructing the normal course of business is something else altogether. But that would be off topic here...

Yes. You forgot two things. One is all the documentation backing up everything you mentioned. The other is that you promised us you were leaving. 😛

So have the Republicans it would seem. Or am I missing the logic behind spending two terms attacking and hounding the president over anything they possibly can, followed by two terms of bitching about the Democrats doing the same thing with some ACTUAL issues. Bill gets a blow job from an intern and Karl Rove leaks information on a covert agent. But which one is perfectly deserving of outrage and months of media coverage and which one is scandal mongering? Well it depends on whether you are a Republican or a normal person.

I swear, we're going to have some kind of irony overload if the Republicans keep this up.

Well, you do have somewhat of a point here with the traction issue. I am repeatedly astonished at the teflon president we seem to have at the moment. It's not that the Democrats have stupid issues, it's that the Republicans seem to be able to dodge the bullet time and time again. But it's not going to work forever, scandal mongering or not, there is a very serious investigation going on into the Plame issue, and I get the feeling someone is going down for that one.
