According to the Dems his Bolton appointment was "It?s a devious maneuver that evades the constitutional requirement of Senate consent", even though recess appointments are mentioned in the Constitution!!!
A mere 5 years, and the Dems have completely forgotten the Clinton administration.
So have the Republicans it would seem. Or am I missing the logic behind spending two terms attacking and hounding the president over anything they possibly can, followed by two terms of bitching about the Democrats doing the same thing with some ACTUAL issues. Bill gets a blow job from an intern and Karl Rove leaks information on a covert agent. But which one is perfectly deserving of outrage and months of media coverage and which one is scandal mongering? Well it depends on whether you are a Republican or a normal person.
I swear, we're going to have some kind of irony overload if the Republicans keep this up.
You clearly missed the fact that Karl Rove is not just "a White House aide" on the level of a Monica Lewinski. He has been, and remains, the Presidient's chief political strategist, as well as his senior advisor and deputy chief of staff in charge of policy. As such, he is in constant communication with Bush and wields considerable influence over administration policies and actions.Originally posted by: zendari
You clearly did miss the logic somewhere. Cooking up and embellishing a story about a White House aide compares to the President himself lying under oath and committing a federal crime?

Have you read the views of many judges on the Karl case?

The best the usual apologists can muster up is not a solid defense of anything, but rather a meek "Your side does (or would do) it too!"
That explains a lot...

I was wondering who would be the first to say this. After it was said about the missing WMDs and the Abu Ghraib abuses it was simply a matter of time.Originally posted by: heartsurgeon

The best the Bush apologists can muster is NO defense for outing Valerie Plme as a covert CIA operative, or any other information in a memo marked "Top Secret," or even an admission that their fearless leader promised to fire anyone who was involved in leaking that info to the press. Rather, all they can do is bring up irrelevant issues like Clinton's petty distractions with Monica and others.
I don't condone the fact that Clinton lied under oath about it, but considering that Rove and Libby's actions are dangerously close to treason, as well as the potentially catastrophic consequenses of their actions, and considering that Clinton is no longer in office, but the Bushwhackos are, aren't you losing perspective about the relative significance of the two cases?
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The House voted by a wide margin Thursday night to renew expiring provisions of the USA Patriot Act, the collection of antiterrorism measures passed after the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Among Democrats, 43 supported it, while 156 voted no.
However, a number of top Democrats supported the bill, including five members of the party's House leadership -- Steny Hoyer, the minority whip; Robert Menendez and Jim Clyburn, the chairman and vice chairman of the Democratic caucus; John Spratt, assistant minority leader; and Rahm Emanuel, who chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
The ranking Democrats on the Intelligence and Armed Services committees -- Reps. Jane Harman and Ike Skelton -- also voted yes.

Nice autobiography you just wrote down there. The funniest hypocrites of them all are the ones who make it so easy for the rest to laugh at.

how about all the Liberal concern about the Patriot Act??
Last time I checked, it got passed with ease, and very little coverage about how Democrats voted on it in the "mainstream" press.
How come the Dems rolled over on the Patriot Act? I mean, it was just a few bombs that went off in London...you don't think that made a difference do you?
Where is the outrage over the Patriot Act!!
Liberals rise up!!

I'm certainly not defending the Democrats, I think both sides should spend a little less time trying to kill each other and more time, you know, doing what we pay them to do. I just felt the need to point out that whining about the Dems doing something when the Republicans do the exact same thing is kind of silly. Wouldn't you agree?
