Scam? Restaurant offered to cut steak for me

Because it was a large steak meant for multiple (two in this case) people. If it's not a 'shared' meal then I've never had them offer to cut it, if it's one of the huge cuts of beef meant for multiple people then I've always had them at least offer.

I generally don't order those cuts. Filet Mignon, medium rare, is my go to steak when dining out.

I've eaten at some pretty high end steak houses and NEVER once have I been offered to have my steak cut for me.

spend enough money and they don't even ask

the fuck?

dude do you hang out in a mental hospital or preschool where the use of sharp utensils by the patrons is not allowed?

No, I'm a Chef and can say again with certainty, most people are poor at using utensils. Maybe it's a result of fast food or, that no one is taught social graces anymore.

That's the truth.

It amazes me the number of people I see that can't even use a fork properly, let alone a knife and fork.

Looked just like this. To me it's just a silly visual trick to make it look like there is more meat on the plate than there really is (spread out slices). Lol.Or they have precut stuff in the back. cooks faster?

Pointless since you still have to cut. And i eat slowly so it gets colder faster.

open kitchen ftw. And the real answer? It's meant to be split by multiple people. Are you going to have one jackass at the table try to carve up the entire steak for the table to share?

Paranoid much? What kind of weird places are you going to where you think this is actually happening?

As has been stated, it's a single plate designed for two people to eat. If they don't pre-cut, which makes it easy for you to serve yourself from the common plate, then you and the other patron will be forced to reach across your own plates to cut the steak on the common plate.

You'd probably also cut WITH the grain.

Please get yourself a medium rare ribeye today. I've just changed your life for the better.

Steak? Yet some more upscale restaurant do pre cut, especially big cut for share.

I have seen a restaurant in Asia(Singapore in this case) offer to de bone crabs. Some rich Japanese ordered a few fry crabs when it arrive they tell the server take the meat out of it, they dude was standing there for 1/2 and hour cracking crabs and take the meat out.

In Thailand some restaurant offer to feed you in the month.

If it takes your half an hour to crack crabs, there had better been like 100 of them to crack. It doesn't take long to open crabs. =)

You do aware in Asia, people don't just eat the legs right? The leg plus every bit of meat in the body. Take them out and clean every bit of shell from the meat do take a long time.
