I'm 2766 feet from the CO, how do I get 6000/608 for $45?

Sign up over at http://www.yahoo.com then choose the 1.5-3.0/384 plan or call 1-800-776-0838 if your already using SBC YAHOO DSL to upgrade your account. Since your 2766 feet away you should sync higher then 3.0 and will probably get the full 6.0 speed!

Why do I even bother?

I ordered the higher speed yesterday @ noon, was told, "We'll have your speed increased within 24 hours"

Did a speed test tonight, it's cooking right along @ 1.1mps

Called SBC, got hung up on by one woman, the second tech said he was going to look into it & an automated voice came on the line, saying they're now colsed for the day...

I hate SBC.... Only other options are dial up or satellite.

Don't know who would tell you 24 hours cause there either incompetent or just plain lying. Most people were being told 2/9 before anything would occur. They are being flooded with orders for the higher speeds.

I've been following the thread about this promo over at dslreports and I think this is the run down.
General Promotions:
Basic (up to 384/128-256)34.95; 39.95 13th month and after
Standard Plus (384-1.5/128-256)34.95; 49.95 13th month and after
Standard Plus-S (384-1.5/128-256 static ips) 64.95
Symmetric (384/384;static ips) 89.99 119.99 13th month and after
Expert Plus (1.5-3/384-608) $44.99 on going will not increase after 12 months*
Expert Plus-S (1.5-6.0/384-608 static ips) 99.99 159.95 13th month and after
Also.. Distance Requirements now apply for both RT based and CO based customers... The Previously offered Deluxe Package will no longer be offered.. Any Plan you currently have if you dont change it then you wont loose it.. ie Expert Plus 1.5-6/384-608 pppoe 99.95

I called on the 2nd to upgrade to the to the Expert Plus package, (Im currently on the standard). The rep was quick, even informed me that im 3750 feet from my CO.

This is a quote from ADSLguy, a SBC sales rep who posts and helps a LOT over at dslreports.
OK, now to work thru the marketing stuff.
The 1.5-3/384 is a marketing tier, not a speed tier. If you order it, it will actually be the 1.5-6/384-608 like the Expert is currently.
Existing customers CAN call in and get the new price!! It's just not advertised.

All I expect is 3mbs/384kbps, but the sales rep even said that I will most likely get up to 6mbps, so only time will tell.

I also believe you can get a free modem, the newer ones, because with every contract includes a free modem. shipping and handling applies tho, and tax I think. I asked my rep about the price after the contract and he said it will go up to 99 but I will have the chance to renew it, and that I would also be informed before the contract ends. (this I doubt because I wasn't informed when my contracted ended and I payed 50 a mo for the same plan other people were paying 29.99 for)

If any of this info is repeated, I'm sorry, I didn't feel like reading this whole thread.

dammit, i called in earlier today and they said that i was to far away from the terminal. They even said they were suprised by the speed i was getting now because im right on the edge of where they stop offering service.

semi goodnews is that they are having a new remote terminal built closer to me, the bednews is that its projected to be finished in Dec. 2005.

My cable with 4.5Mbit down and 1mbit up for $25 USD does me just fine.
Not to mention 7 e-mails, 70megs webspace, and two 'static' IP addresses.

Its been rock solid lately. I havent noticed any down time since october. 4.5 months.

I live in town (fairly small) and I know there is one near me. With my cable bein so flaky lately I'm getting ready to switch to the middle package 1.5 for $30 a month. My friend has the same thing and he has been really happy with it and he can only get 80% of that cus he lives so far out. Btw the offers do renew at the same price, not sure why but at least they did last year for him. It may be something that they wont always do but for now thats what it looks like.

6mbit/608. imo is smoking hot!!!
The first thing I'm going to do with it is to leech away, lol.
Thats 600k/sec, 60k/sec
It cannot get better then this, unless someone offers 10mbit/1mbit, which will not be available anytime soon.

You all will be crying wolf and sheeps when they start to limit how much you can download and upload per a month. I can see all the moaning now. Why did they do this? This isn't fair? Good Bye SBC. etc ...

naw that's just cable. The worst thing that SBC can do if you get the package is speed cap it to 3Mbps in the future since that is what they advertised. 45$ for 3Mbps is still pretty good and (as of right now) 6Mbps for 45$ is too hot to handle! :)

They sell it as 1.5 to 3.0 so people aren't disappointed when they can't get 6.0 service.
