What, do you live in a barn? (When someone would leave a door open.)

Do you think I'm made of money?

I got, "Were you born in a barn?"

I finally replied with, "Yes, but it was on a side-hill, so the door swung shut by itself."

That was always good for even more yelling...

"Because I said so" is probably one of the most damaging things you can repeat to a child.

How so?

I just got annoyed by it. "eff you and your totalitarian dictatorship style of ruling!"

Meh, I hated it but I respected it most of the time. It taught me that you can expect everything out of everyone else and not have to contribute anything in return.

I hated fat people telling me how I need to eat more (as if me not being fat was something wrong with me).

You must not have kids.
It drove me crazy when my parents wouldn't take the time to explain why I couldn't do something or have something.

Then I had my own kids and realized that it's not explaining your reasoning the first time that is so bad. It's explaining it the 1000th time when you start to get tired of it and resort to "because I said so!".

The one I still hate the most is "Life's not fair".
My response (at least in my head) was "Yeah, that's true, and it sucks, so why are you trying to make it even more unfair".
