Hope I am posting in the right thread. Anyway, I am using XP SP3 on this PC and it has been running smoothly for a year and a half. I happened to check the event log a while ago and found these inside. Although I tend to get network problems, those in bold are new errors. I find it weird because my PC didn't hang/restart/go BSOD in any way. The programs have also been opening and running fine, so I find the logs a tad confounding.

The only things I did new for this month (this week, specifically) are:
- disabling system restore for my customary full virus scan (MBAM/Avira)
- going into safe mode for another complete system scan

Anyway, I've been restarting the PC a couple of times after that and those same errors haven't popped up again. Ideas?

Also, how can the "processor" fail to load? Is this the CPU btw?

FYI, I'm on an Athlon II X2 250 (3ghz)

You'll receive a lot of "service failed to start" messages when going into Safe Mode. If that's what you did recently, I wouldn't worry about it.

It does mean the CPU, but the processor itself didn't fail to load; just the driver. Which most likely means things like power management, bug workarounds, etc won't be active but the system should still work fine.

Thanks! Definitely not an issue now that I've tested it on another laptop. The list after I did a safe mode scan was the same, save for the processor. I'm guessing the reason why the processor driver failed to load for my desktop is due to the upgraded AV (i.e. paid).

Uh, why would your AV have any affect on the MS processor driver?
