Roger Ebert Slammed it pretty good, and he's right on the money:

I saw Superman Returns last night, and found Roger right on the money. The film was ponderous, dull, and un-involving.

bah! ebert is an old fuddy duddy. i never trust his reviews. roeper is alright.
he liked that last lindsay lohan movie. i dont trust him.

u gonna tell me u disagree with all his reviews?

i cant comment on all. but i saw couple episodes where he gave thumbs up to crap.
just my opinion of course. my tastes dont match his.

but roeper was ok.

I'll probably watch it because I'm a sucker for advertisement at times, but it still looks sorta "meh" to me.

The guy is on crack. He's a hack. A hack on crack.

Seriously, his superman review is terrible, like the rest of his stuff. He's a bitter failed film maker.

Just saw it last night...

I thought the first hour or so was absolutely fantastic... then they just lost it in all the over-drama....

I was expecting, especially after so many critics gave it good reviews and even my local Newsday gave it four stars, this movie to be excellent. Singer likes comics and he did a decent job with X2. And it's Superman! With today's special effects, it should at least look awesome.

Superman was probably the biggest disappointment I have ever had at the theater.

Sure, he flew (or more to the point, floated) well and the action sequences (what there were of them) were sweet. The actor who played Clark was fine and Spacey was Spacey. I had no problems with the acting at all. But, damn, where was the story and why was the movie so long? You can have a three hour long movie and not have it feel like three hours. But this wasn't the case with Superman for me. I kept looking at my watch and wondering when something was going to happen. Luthor's plot was just plain dumb. And there wasn't a resolution at all at the end of the movie.

It wasn't When a Stranger Calls pointless.
It wasn't Ultraviolet bad.
And it wasn't a bad movie.

It just was not a good movie either.

2/4 stars

This year's summer blockbusters have been quite pathetic.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Superman, in this movie, is the biggest peeping tom/stalker. Ever!

i kept me entertained but like the rest of you guys said "meh"

i guess i never really like superman (i hate how dorky he is as clark kent, compared to badass bruce wayne 😀)

I went to go see the movie with very low expectations because of this thread and I was just blown away! I am going to see it again at IMAX. But I still think like everyone else in this thread. Batman>>>Superman>>>>>>>>XMEN>>>>&
t;>>>>>>>>>>Spiderman.

I read that they removed Perry White's line of Superman "defending truth, justice and the American way" was removed from the film to make it more foreigner friendly. That line is a staple in the Superman series. What a crock!

i really liked it, i read the novel so i knew what to expect and when it was actually played out in front of my eyes rather than my imagination it was even better.

i really thought that it wasn't his son, i misinterpreted the book so i was like wow ok. i kept telling myself oh that's his son but the asthma threw me off.

anyways, i'm a Batman fan but i think Superman Returns was way better; however, i don't think Brandon Routh put out enough emotion.

Saw it last night. It was pretty good IMO, but the ending dragged on and on; they could have cut 15 minutes from it easily. Kevin Spacey was the best part of the movie.

My real complaint: The theater had to play it SO GODDAMNED LOUD! Why?

I was really disappointed with this movie. The FX looked pretty good, but the story just dragged on and on. And where was the climax? Superman fought nobody in this movie.

I am very disappointed.🙁

Saw it yesterday and I really enjoyed it. It was better than I thought it would be. The run time was ok, and all the references to the older movies were great.

The theater I saw it in was pretty empty. Maybe 30 people at the most. It was a 3:30 showing.

This movie was as weak and superman is strong.

But then again a charactor with only 1 weakness is a stupid idea.

yeah, and it dragged on for an hour more after that scene. 😛

the characters were broing and flat, and I thought Spacey couldn't hold a candle to Hackman's Lex Luthor.
