Someone discussing whether or not it was a lie?

Try to pay attention.
What is the difference? What you said you would do, you did not do.🙄

Isn't it you who was saying that Bush lied to get us into war? Would you apply your quibbling standards to that case as you do for Obama?

Do you actually have evidence that you did everything within your power to lose that 20 pounds...or do you have a list of excuses as to why you gained 20 pounds instead? Therein lies the rub.

There-in lies the problem with people like you and sites like that. A pledge to do something, and is doing/going to do his best to achieve the goal he pledged, with satisfactory although not 100% results = a BIG FAT LIBERAL BULLSHIT LIE to GOPers.

To most this is a solid accomplishment and a good trend considering what it was stemming from. But to you and low information voters/idiots, OBAMA IS A LIAR!!!!!. Give me a break.

When you compare that to a person like Romney who has, in the span of his campaigning, changed "his views" on a number of issues (happy to be specific as can most posters here) I think that much more qualifies as lying, or being dishonest, than the example you are trying to present. This single example is one of many which makes this discussion not worth continuing.

Nonsense, lies from GOPers, misleading and bullshit. Staples of the current state of the Republican party.

It's funny seeing so many right-wingers suddenly waxing nostalgic for the Clinton days. I seem to remember them viewing him differently at the time.

IF you dont worship Obama that doesn't make you a right winger...Ive voted for Clinton, G.W Bush, then Kerry in 04, an in 08 I voted for Obama and this time ill vote for Romney. Independents are the coveted voters since they dont see political parties as being their religion. Ill swap parties as much as I want if the candidate isnt doing the job he said he would [waves to Obama].

Whether I actually lose the 20 pounds or not isn't the determinant of whether or not I lied. Only my intent is at the time I make the statement.

If I really did want to lose 20 pounds, then I wasn't lying when I said it. I may end failing, or not following through, or not living up to my commitment. But I didn't lie, unless I knew at the time I made the statement that I had no intention of even making the effort.

So, did Obama intend to cut the deficit in half? I think he did. You may differ. Only he really knows for sure.

But when Romney comes out and says he supports something, and then a month later says he supports the exact opposite, the dishonesty is undeniable.

So Obama was doing his best to reduce spending and cut the deficit? I beg to differ. He was spending like a drunken sailor.

so voting against your previous votes in each cycle somehow makes you more committed?

:hmm:

One of the major causes of the deficit was the slump in the economy. He (and many others) believed the stimulus would help get the economy going.

Just as a business that is struggling sometimes has to put more money in to try to turn it around. That doesn't mean they aren't trying to make money in the long run.

He failed on nearly every campaign promise he made, so yes its now time for "change" and "hope" - Hopefully with the White house door hitting his behind on his way out.
