If they were dead you wouldn't of seen the rolled over vehicle, in almost all cases where death occurs things are completely blocked / shielded from the public eye.

If the vehicle did roll that many times, who is to say that a car in that situation wouldn't have faired equally, or worse?

I think the point to address here is the severity of the accident in a midsize sedan to compare, it would be hard to do unless you pull the police report of what happened.

Well, I've seen and been in a car that lost control at 70mph (I was hit in the right rear by a car doing about 90mph which sent me into a spin I could not recover from) and did a complete 360 spin on an open roadway and it did not rollover. It's not as though there is a curb on the freeways to catch a wheel in. This vehicle was on the roadway.

It's no secret that SUVs are more prone to rolling over in a loss of control than cars yet you hear very little about it anymore.

Because it really wasn't that big of a problem?

Because they forced expensive ESP systems on us and not much changed?

Maybe SUV's just don't roll over anymore, like cars?

Lies!
I just saw a newer model Monte Carlo rolled, sitting in the median on I90 all by its self yesterday. Roads were perfectly clear too, don't know how they managed that one.

Oh tell me you're innocent of baiting. Tell me you pose innocent questions... when you do this sort of thing... not to mention throw shots in every other post. What happened to your anti-SUV brigade sig? No matter how many responses there are, YOU SIMPLY DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT. Then more of these come along.

What about a thread like this that comes to mind. Ahh, not surprisingly there you are in your first response using numbers to show sports cars are fewer while not addressing the actual question. Then you finish off with "I don't own an SUV or a sports car, I own 2 family sedans, a fullsize and a midsize" to show how impartial you are while conveniently leaving out the Rodeo you disliked and numerous sports cars you've owned in the past.

I may be wrong here but stalking people on atot is not a great way to spend your life.

First, you don't know anything about how I spend my life. It takes 5 minutes to make 15 posts, the search feature to find incriminating evidence, and a common mind to notice patterns. But regardless, it takes no real effort to stalk Jules. He's the one with the uneducated/ignorant/repeated ideas about SUVs being the debil despite all the responses to the contrary. I bet within the next few weeks he'll take yet another shot at it.

Well cars and SUV's are each safer in their own regards. SUV will sustain the impact from a larger vehicle much better then a car would. Cars are lower to the ground and are less prone to rollover accidents. I think they are about equal as far as pros and cons of safety go.

In all types of crashes, the insurance institute reports, there were 117 driver fatalities per million registered subcompact cars in 2004, the latest year for which statistics are available. That compares with 68 deaths per million midsize cars, 56 per million large S.U.V.?s and 78 per million vehicles over all.

117 vs. 56
hmm, numbers don't lie
so yes SUV's are safer

Why use the subcompact number and not the midsize number?

More than likely that SUV rolled because some dumbass on a bike decided to not obey traffic devices.

Bikes don't ride on the freeway.

<--Assuming you're referring to bicycles.

Also from that article.

A small car is more likely to be involved in a fatal rollover than a larger car, although that type of crash is most common among pickups and S.U.V.?s.

Another overlooked fact is that small cars are more popular with the street racer crowd so that figure is no doubt increased by the number of people killed street racing subcompacts every year yet that point isn't made anywhere in the article.

And how come fullsize cars aren't represented in the statistics?

I wonder if that SUV in the OP that rolled over had ESP. If it did then they must of been doing something EXTREAMLY stupid to roll over.

Unless something on the ground interfered far more then ESP can control. Ie. Pot holes.. uneven terrian.

I wonder why people still think these vehicles are safer than cars.

Well, in the interest of fairness, it's not like they just roll over of their own volition.

No, but they are definitely more prone to rolling over than a car.

And semi's are more prone too. It's all in the drivers stupid reactions. I've been in cars that are on 2 tires because of someone overreacting on the highway.

I've blown tires in vehicles taller in SUV's and with twice the sidewall, if you don't overreact like a moron there is no problem.

Ford should have never been involved in the lawsuit with the firestone tires, it wasn't ford's fault people don't know how to drive.

It's about as bad as the lawsuits against Yamaha for peopel getting hurt when rolling the rhinos and other ute's. It's fucking retarded.
