Saw a new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO driving today

Even if the SHO is a full second slower, the GXP does not "run circles around" it.

That claim is ridiculous.

The V8 GT and Boss don't make a lot of sense to me when the 3.5l ecoboost originally made 415hp when it was called the twin force and they didn't care so much about fuel mileage and having to keep FWD based transmissions alive.

i think the mustang community would kill ford if they took the V8 out from the GT. the V8 is what makes the GT the iconic pony car.

The Probe (turbo 6?) was slated to take the place of the Mustang and failed. Even the Mustang SVO didn't last long.

The probe was FWD and it was a turbo 4. The SVO was $$$$$$$ are really not any faster then the v8. They are still worth some cash as a collectors item now. I'm a v8 guy myself but if I have a choice between a 330hp v8 and a 3.5l twin turbo making 415hp and getting better mileage while doing it for the same price I'm going with the v6. Again I think price is going to be the problem. I'm betting the 3.5l ecoboost aint cheap to make like the 4.6l.

The SHO is a niche car anyway, so it should be offered with a manual like it used to have. How many $40K Taurii can they sell anyway? A manual should drop the price by about a grand.

Invoice on a 09 335Xi is $39K National Average is $40K according to the internet...

The base SHO is not well equipped either.

does ford have a fwd biased awd manual transaxle that can handle this amount of power and torque?

The 3.5L Ecoboost engine's torque curve is great, though. About 230 at 1000 revs, then 350 from 1500 all the way to 5500, dropping only to 300 at 6000 revs.

the end of the article is a little strange. they think the ecoboost 6 is going to be a replacement for the NA 6 in the base mustang? yeah right. the 2L turbo 4 would be a good replacement. the turbo 6 already bests the current mod V8 in everything but noise, so if that engine gets into the mustang i don't see much market left for the current V8.

If you don't take that one out of context, it's pretty clear that I want the SHO to be a RWD manual. 😀

you mean the context of the taurus being a transverse fwd car that would require huge engineering resources to convert to a proper rwd car?

Gee, I never thought of that...

It's fair, but it doesn't sound all ecoboosty... 😀

It would probably be 28mpg with just rear wheel drive and imagine the peel outs you could do. 😀

I guess with the platform being FWD, they were unable to do anything about torque steer so AWD was it for the SHO.

I know, it's hard to read the whole thread, but still, if you are going to chime in...

i've read the thread. you've posted so many inconsistent statements i wonder if there are two people posting under the same account. you want the SHO to be a manual and state that it'd probably drop the price, but you also want it to be limited run RWD car that wouldn't be able to recoup the engineering costs without increasing the price. you post all sorts of things you consider wrong with it and say you'd get a 335xi instead, and then say you'll be getting one if you get the opportunity. if anyone should  it's the rest of us.

Why didn't you stop reading? Listen, I don't want to be a bother. Feel free to completely ignore my vacillations on the SHO. My posts are not very important in the scheme of life.

Yes, I am inconsistent in my thoughts about the SHO. I am not sure about it. Thus I often use 😀 after my own inconsistent posts.

So what?

It's not that big of a deal. I am just a nobody on a forum. Chill out.
