I am not here to make anyone look good or bad I am just telling you what she told my GF.

*Beautiful Cities
*Dirty Country
*Seen poor people before? Well you haven't seen poor until you go to Saudi Arabia
*10% of the population are extremely wealthy. 90% of the population are dirt poor
*No Middle-Class

One person's opinion vs none of us here who have been there. Thought it would be interesting.

That is the recipe for a revolution. Once trouble riots break out in Saudi Arabia, you can can get oil prices are going to jump. There's a lot of money to be made owning the oil corporations.

This is also why we need to get Iraq's oil online. Without Saudi oil, our economy would collapse.

Much of the 3rd world mirrors those demographics . . . and America is well on the way. The major distinction being that America will have relatively few "poor" people but a huge segment of the population will just scrape by.
1) Diminishing investment and quality of public education (K-college)
2) Decimation of non-defense industry manufacturing
3) Trade deficit
4) Debt
5) Aging, sedentary population
6) Dependence on imported oil/gas

Sorry to threadjack . . . Saudi Arabia sux . . . essentially the exact opposite of what Bush promised during his campaign and inauguration but curiously . . . the oppressive House of Saud has nothing to fear from Bushistas.

Not sure, but one of my "friends" (haven't seen him in a long time) told me that in Jordan, <10% is extremely wealthy, and the rest is filthy poor. So I wouldn't doubt this either. Either way I love the democractic virtues we are extolling, and all the wonderful governments we are supporting around the world~

We only get a very small percentage of our oil from Saudi Arabia actually. We get most from Canada and Venezuela.

believe its about 12%. imagine 12% of our oil supply gone?? no you cant

it will be a nightmare if that happens, people complain about high prices now imagine if our supply of Saudi oil stopped. our economy might as well stop with it

No, you said republicans like the Saudi's so much. Other than the Bush family, which I admit has very close ties to the Saudi royal family, who else in the GOP likes the Saudi's?

Cheney said the United States has had "a very good relationship with the Saudis now for about 60 years. It's been a very productive relationship in terms of the values that we gain from it and that the Saudis gain from it, as well."

You see, we get "values" from our relationship with the Saudis.

Ok Bush and Cheney, but they go together anyway. So not shocking.

Please back your claim up. What republicans love the Saudi's so much?

I came up with two top republicans, the men who run the party and set the policy. The rest of republicans just voted them into a second term, reaffirming the Bush and Cheney foreign policy, which includes a favorable relationship with the Saudi Arabia.

Apparently, you've never been to Jordan. While your comments about King Abdullah are in the ballpark . . . calling Jordan "advanced" is akin to calling GWB "well read." Much of the countryside looks exactly like Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. Obviously, the cities are much better off but use of the term "advanced" is quite a stretch.

The perspectives of Jordanian citizens are quite comparable to those of the aforementioned countries. Further, although Abdullah is an "ally" his assessment of the Bush War is overwelmingly negative.

It is quite curious that you advocate replacing one undemocratic regime with another. Regardless, it's the "people" that will hopefully take back Saudi Arabia . . . unfortunately, they will have few reasons to believe the USA has helped.

Bush and Cheney are both ex oilmen, everyone knows this.

Am i going to trust you, or my Jordinian friend who goes back every summer? Pretty easy choice, right?

As for your comment on an "ethnicity" of people getting back their "land" (hell in the end they are arabs too) from Saudi Arabia....rememeber, its our government supporting Saudi Arabia.

you don't say what city, but I've been to Saudi several times, and I have to say it is hard to disagree with most of what you said above...

further, the 10%-90% split seems to be fairly common throughout the arab world... or should i say the part of the world that lives off oil

Did Bush of Cheney personally intervene to give the Saudi banks, government and royals immunity from prosecution by 9/11 survivors and family, or were there other Republicans involved too?
