What I stated was simply an observation. There is no need to get upset or defensive about it.

Not upset or defensive at all. Allow me to clarify. All I'm saying is there is justification for our fellow forum members to be keenly aware, highly skeptical and suspiciously wary of Trump's behavior because his behavior, especially so his constant lying, warrants such scrutiny.

Nothing more, nothing less. 🙂

An English-language forum devoted to politics talks a lot about the political leader of of the most powerful (and English-speaking) country in the world? What could explain such a thing?
And here I thought it was because we got tired of talking about how dreamy Trudeau was.

Meh. Live and learn.

I did not know that President Obama puts mustard on his sandwiches. I could not forget about that because I did not know about that.

I do not understand why I am being singled out for voicing my observations of this forum.
youre not being singled out. other snowflakes are replied to as well. back to your safe space, cupcake.

Ya know, for someone such as yourself, someone who has such acute political observations and observations of this said forum, you certainly are one of the most culturally illiterate beings I've ever met.

Sorta makes one wonder, don't it? 😉

There’s some big shit going down in the region right now. One can only assume a coup attempt, but who is really behind it? Who’s the "good guys" and who’s the "bad guys"? What is it over - Yemen, the petrodollar, simple power, something else?

Consensus seems to be that crown prince Salman, now heir to the throne, is consolidating his power and removing rivals from the field. Seems like relatively standard monarchical intrigue.

Possibly. It seems like a whole lotta big happenings all at the same time just for power though.

Lot of power just arrested

Nothing to see here, just Muhammad Bin Salman consolidating his power.

The real news is Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon announcing his resignation via Saudi media (while he is in saudi arabia). There is very obviously machinations going on by Saudi and the US to start a war in lebanon against Hezbollah. Hariri has always been a Saudi puppet, but his resignation paves the way for an invasion of Lebanon because it will sink the current political coalition in Lebanon and likely cause much unrest. Hariri is a sunni muslim that supports Saudi Arabia. His VP is a Christian who supports Hezbollah and the head minister below him is a Shia who also supports Hezbollah. The coalition has worked well until now, but this will basically hand the whole government over to Hezbollah. The result will be rationalizations by Israel and the US for a new war in Lebanon.

But by all means, ignore the coming war and concentrate on the latest game of thrones drama in Saudi.

Really be nice if the US would spend all the money on the, likely, upcoming several ME wars and spend it on electrification instead so we can forget this corner of the world exists.

Because we have some diehards out of The_Donald on here and maybe even one or two out of a factory in snkt petersburg.. So yea people may be fast to jump to conclusions sometimes but it is not without reason...

So what’s P&N's take on the events other than "I hate Trump"? Low oil prices run the coffers dry? Is the Lebanon president resigning (in SA) out of fear of assasination related? What was Kushner doing there, surely he was in the know it was about to go down.

I don’t think this is related, but interesting nonetheless...

If I told you that Democratic Party lobbyist Tony Podesta, whose brother John Podesta chairs Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, is a registered foreign agent on the Saudi government’s payroll, you’d probably think I was a Trump-thumping, conspiratorial nutcase. But it’s true.

The lobby firm created by both Tony and John Podesta in 1988 receives $140,000 a month from the Saudi government, a government that beheads nonviolent dissidents, uses torture to extract forced confessions, doesn’t allow women to drive, and bombs schools, hospitals and residential neighborhoods in neighboring Yemen.

The Podesta Group’s March 2016 filing, required under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938, shows that Tony Podesta himself oversees the Saudi account. At the same time, Tony Podesta is also a top campaign contributor and bundler for Hillary Clinton. So while one brother runs the campaign, the other brother funds it with earnings that come, in part, from the Saudis.

Me? No clue...

Forcing Hariri to quit the government would help Israel frame any aggression against Lebanon as an attack on Iranian proxies. With Gaza politically neutralised for now, following Hamas' handover of power to the Palestinian Authority, Israel could very well see this as an optimal time to strike. Such an attack would also provide a perfect opportunity for the West to test the new Saudi leadership's "moderate" credentials: Would it cheer Israel on?

Kushner's trip related to Israel somehow? His ties to Netanyahu is known.

I have noticed that in this forum as well. It seems to have an unnatural obsession with President Trump.
What are you feeling, do you suppose, as a reason for saying this? People are clearly objecting to the notion it is unnatural. What do you think you mean by using that word. I also find the word obsession to be a bit pejorative too. I would think a neutral way of describing things here would be 'a concentrated focus on Trump negatives'. Is that a bad thing?

Big shit going down that will surely have worldwide effects (oil markets tomorrow?) and this forum is incapable of regurgitating anything other than "I hate Trump". There’s been essentially nothing said about SA said in this thread, sad.
