i have had both comcast digital and directv...I got rid of the directv at the end of the year contract.

picture wise...i noticed "digitized" pixelation on the directv...i did not experience that with comcast, other than if it went off and came back on ....the dish had the digitation, like watch a DIVX type effect like it was a pointilist painting.

i enjoyed them both but directv went up in price..tired of paying double and extra..i have comcast cable modem, which rocks..

and get the analog service which is channels 1-99, the directv had additional charges of different dish for getting local and it added to the price and each room is exra for using the receivers...

they are all ripping people if you ask me.... making billions and billions

if it was around 40-50 bux with all the premium channels, then it would be worth it....but if you think about it, getting all at stuff and local on direct is about 100 bux for two rooms, then if you have a cable modem....starts adding up big time....eeesh

You know I live in an area with heavy thunderstorms and rain, but I've never had a single signal problem. I think some of you need to realign your sats, or let a professional do it right.

I have Direct TV, my friend has Comcast "digital" cable.

IMO, his picture looks like sh!t.

He has a Mitsubishi 70" HDTV. I have a 55" Mitsubishi non-HDTV.

Also, sattelite is much better than cable (digital or analog). The picture quality spanks cable any day.

But but but.....those Comcast "Im done with the Dish" commercials. Those people are stupid. LOL
"I turned on the TV after I hooked up the Dish my self and THAT WAS IT!! Im done with the DISH" BWUAHAHAHAHA
Oh and that idiot that had his tree cut down for $400 instead of moving the satelite....

If you switch over to DirecTV they may still have a promotion that will let you have 3/4 receivers +dish installed for free.

As for picture... perhaps there is something wrong with my setup, but when we switched over from DirecTV to Dish Network I started noticing a fair amount of pixelation. Especially for football/basketball/anything with a lot of rapid motion.

IMO, none of the posts above are going to help you since location, equipment (TV, receiver, connections, etc) and personal preference vary so greatly....

not sure if comcast still has the same special with free installation and some type of package discount for the first few months (which I received in late November)...

if they do have the free install, give it a shot...if you are happy with the picture, you will be saving a ton of money going with the Comcast analog option...

sux to pay that mirror fee for each satellite receiver ($5 for each box each month???) in your house...

I had cox digital, but i dropped them in favor of directv. better picture and sound. And all my channels are digital, not just the ones above 100. ( the ones below 100 are digital, but converted to digital from analog it apears.
