looks like the presidents plan is working

Yes, it is.

Teachers no longer teach.

They only work towards a goal of getting the U.S. monkey children to memorize to a single set of tests...tests, that when passed in sufficient quantity, garauntees employment and further government funding of your school.

Thinking and actually learning anything is NOT the goal.

Mission Accomplished

Fixed...and for once in a million years, I agree with you.

So, was NCLB a mistake? Maybe, maybe not. But the teacher's union should probably be axed.

cause its a crap test. Just tests on two subjects that you keep flipping around for 3 hours, then you do some writing. It needs to be a 2 hr test

I did horrible on the sat, never got above 1000. Took the ACt and found it to be a much better test and did significantly better on it

So it's the test's fault that you're dumb?

People still take the SAT's? The ACT is all that's needed for the majority of colleges these days. I'd bet that the scores are decreasing because less colleges require the test and therefore less intelligent people are taking it.

actually in my state (ND) sat is the choice of students that are looking to go to top-end schools.

Is this true? When I was applying for colleges 7 years ago, I only took the SAT and SAT II exams, and I was applying to Ivy's plus next tier schools.

I graduated high school in '96 in IL. At the time most colleges - state and private - in the midwest (IL, IA, MN) wanted ACT scores. Most colleges on the coasts wanted SAT scores. As was metioned, it's really a regional preference.

I never said that it wasn't a regional thing, I was challenging Modular's assertion.

I wonder how many people just mess up the test by purposely answering wrong. "I dont want to be here so lets see if I can mess up all the answers!"

You cant go by SAT scores because some people take the SAT and some people take the ACT. Also a lot of people take it multiple times. How does that work?

Uh... maybe you SHOULD be. What's the point of taking the test if you aren't prepared?

I personally believe 20% aren't prepared because such as the Americans don't have maps.
