The Puritanism of this country is just ridiculous. Looking at those pictures, what I see is a cute young woman, dressed conservatively and appropriately, reading with enthusiasm to a classroom of small children. It's not as though she is telling them war stories about her life in porn, and I can't imagine these second graders know who she is. I see nothing wrong with this.

I would agree it could cause problems if she were teaching high school kids, since she has been a prominent porn star in recent years, but that's not what this is, by a longshot.

Honestly, who gives a crap?
 
If she's just doing temporary charity crap then whatever. However, I'd be less than thrilled if she was a real teacher and teaching my kids in high school.

Regardless, the very thing parents are trying to "protect" will become aware of her past when sensationalizing this. They are really drawing attention to the entire matter.

What she does for a career doesn't matter; they're first grade children, being read books, and she's doing a good thing for them. That's all that matters.
 
Parents sensationalizing and making a big deal of this will probably lead to more children finding out about her and her career than if they just viewed her as a person reading to their kids.

You didn't answer the question. Why is it a concern?

I don't think I'd have reason to believe that some male porn star is going to start banging my daughter. Being a porn star doesnt make you a pedophile, nor does it mean that you cannot control the urge to have sex with everything in sight.

So, answer the question. WHY would you specifically have a problem with Sasha Grey teaching persons of any age if she is a competent teacher?

Big difference, which is clearly part of what is being argued in this thread.

At that age, the only reason to complain is because you want to believe you have some strong morals and that the mere presence of such a human around your perfect little angels in a classroom will cause them to become diseased and lack any morals and follow alcohol and drugs and ruin their lives.

That's what people must be telling themselves, because imho... at that age group, the only thing I'd ever be concerned about are two things: can they actually teach, and are they a pedo?
If yes to Q1, and No to Q2 - I would have no complaints.

I don't have some ridiculous belief that kids will lose their morals simply because someone who performed in porn is teaching kids.

All you religious zealots and parents screaming "she was in porn! she's going to ruin our kids!!!!" need to face reality.
 
I agree with the school. Evidence that that is actually her is inconclusive, many people look alike. We need more proof, such as a detailed photographic comparison between this woman's chocolate starfish and the brown eyed cyclops belonging to the real Sasha Grey in Butt Sex Bonanza and Ass Eaters Unanimous 19.

It's pretty obvious why it's a concern. People who don't respect themselves, there is no guarantee they will respect your child. It's about the boundaries they are willing to cross and I wouldn't be comfortable with a male porn star teaching high school girls in any form, qualified or not. Luckily our society already takes care of this problem on its own so you're in the minority. You can say I'm "uptight" but when you have kids someday you'll understand. I'm not taking that risk with mine, not happening.

It's similar to a pitbull that's been "rehabilitated" after fighting. Would you feel comfortable with your little kids adopting one? If so, more power to you. There are plenty of regular dogs that need adoption, and one that I wouldn't be nervous about. I'm not taking the risk of something reverting back to its old behavior with my kids.

Are they filming one of her scenes there, or showing inappropriate things to the kids, or discussing inappropriate material? No? Then WTF is the problem with her reading to a book to the kids, and just how it is any different from anyone else in the world reading a book to those kids?
