I didn't know who that was until I read this thread. I'm wondering what parents caused the ruckus, because the only way they would have identified her is if they were well experienced with porn.

Most likely some 5th or 6th grader raised in a household where mom/dad leaves the porn laying around or doesn't supervise their kids internet access saw her and recognized her, immediately started the Bevis and Butthead snickering and jokes as it spread through the school the way rumors always have. Some "less worldly" kid then goes home and asks mom/dad about the person or some other question that causes them to start investigating at which point it would be pretty easy to find out who she is even if you are not a consumer of her product.

Not necessarily. I don't watch 'a lot' of porn. And I had only heard her name in passing (not enough to remember who she was) up until I saw her on Entourage.

Could have just been parents that watch that show? She had a lead role throughout most of the 2nd to last season. Anybody caught up on Entourage would know exactly who Sasha Grey is without necessarily ever having watched porn.

I wouldn't necessarily expect them to do a search on a name if they already know her role from Entourage

I'm guessing they don't do criminal background checks on every person who wants to volunteer. My mom and several other moms did volunteer work at my elementary school and I doubt the school did a thorough police+RCMP+Interpol check on all of them. Seriously, how often does a child rapist or serial killer volunteer at a school? And it's not like their volunteer job is to help kids go to the bathroom. Volunteers at my elementary school would help with things like reading to kids and show-and-tell and telling stories.

Also, being a porn star won't show up on a police background check because it's not a crime. They might have a record of her not returning a book to a public library but the computer won't say anything about which porn movies she was in.

Many systems use software such as V-Soft to screen any visitor to the building. You are probably correct though that unless a porn star has actually been busted for some type of vice offense they are not likely to show up using software like that.

If it was one of the parents who brought up the inital complaint (as opposed to an outside source) they should identify who it was.

I assume they'd have a little 'splaining to do. I would never know who Sash Grey was without having surfed for porn.

In regards to the look-a-likes, it's hard for the school to continue refusing and playing that card when Sasha wrote this on her Facebook wall:

I am with everyone else here who has no problem with Sasha reading to kids. It's not like none of the parents aren't perverse in their own bedrooms. Sasha just chose to make her perversions public and make damn good money doing it.

I may have to check that out, Dragon's Fat Cat by Dav Pilkey is my daughter's favorite book right now, and his whole Dragon series is very good.
