Sarah - she is a good mom, breastfeeding advocate...

That's pretty much it, other than breast milk is extremely important for a Downs Syndrome child. It would have been much easier to abort it back at some unclear time before it became a human but she chose not to...

But it takes a serious committment to be able to breastfeed and be on the campaign trail. I would have been dissapointed if she was bottle feeding/nannying her baby. She walks the walk there...

My wife told me this, I don't go searching for things about her boobies (other than pics).

The backshot: Shortly after breast-feeding the baby, Trig, and putting their youngest daughter, Piper, to bed after Sarah Palin's speech at the RNC on Wednesday night, the Palins came down to the hotel lobby and thanked everyone on the staff for being so helpful. She signed autographs and posed for pictures. She was wearing a black cocktail dress and looked beautiful, a source said.

edit: quote attributed to DealMonkey:

In a widely quoted 2006 survey she answered during her gubernatorial campaign, Palin said she supported abstinence-until-marriage programs. But weeks later, she proclaimed herself "pro-contraception" and said condoms ought to be discussed in schools alongside abstinence.

"I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues," she said during a debate in Juneau.

[...]

Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said the governor stands by her 2006 statement, supporting sex education that covers both abstinence and contraception.

Locked at the OP's request.

I'm certain the hacks (you know who you are) will be in here shortly to explain how this is another example of a) hypocracy b)right-wing conspiracy c) republicans destroying america d) all of the above 😉

Agree with her politics or not, qualified for VP or not, this is a good thing. Period.

Wait a minute, breastfeeding is a known method of contraception as it prevents ovulation, but if not totally effective may very well prevent implantation of possibly fertilized ova on the uterine wall.

She's an abortionist, I knew it!

Hey, look, she's doing something that monkey's do! Let's all reward her with the VP spot.

she has qualifications!! she's experienced!!

vote nOW!!!

getting back to the aborting the downs baby issue. I think (and I hope Im wrong) that people like to make this issue out that she made the decision to not abort in order to make a political statement. At least, after listening to the talk radio blowhards talk for days about it, that this is the impression that I have gotten from the right.

But I beg to differ. Most normal people consider their moral integrity, conscience, and faith when making those kinds of decisions. I am sure that she made up her mind a loooong time ago that abortion is not a choice she could ever make. Yet imho the right wants to make it into a political statement, that they are somehow RIGHT because she chose to have the baby.

take the politics out of her decision to keep the baby please. If one was to actually ask her (although I think the media is BANNED from asking her any questions about abortion) I am certain that she would say she consulted her heart and her family first before she consulted her politicians, on whether or not to keep her baby.

I can tell you out of personal experience, that it is FAR from 100% effective.

Bleh, more "image" over "substance" in this pathetic beauty pageant election...

I could really care less how beautiful she looked tucking in her children. Hopefully after putting those kids to bed she started hitting the books. Getting to know and reading that VP job description. Getting to know and opening up to her consistuents on what she "really' stands for.

This is just what the GOP want. Instead of the "issues" lets talk about mother of the year honors. Lets talk about how her ass looked in that cocktail dress. The American public who buys this shit deserves to be tucked into bed.

My 6 month old daughter agrees...

No period, nursing my 18 mo old son...then BOOM, preggers.

edit: another one hits the "nursing got pregnant" lottery 😀

Whoever told you that was misinformed. My wife is nursing one child now and we're expecting again. It didn't take much effort either...unfortunately...

Ya, and I am sure she was thinking about her kids and all of that extra time she could dedicate towards them when she chose to accept that she might become VP in a matter of months. No...she put her career before her kids. That doesn't make her a terrible parent directly because there are many ways to skin the cat, but it doesn't win her any mother of the year awards either like so many women are basing their vote on.

No one "told" me this, it's verifiable fact. As to you and the guys above with less luck using this method, ya'll did something wrong or just ended up on the short side of the statistics as the method requires rigorous adhesion to the schedule. LAM was an evolutionary development so that cavewomen wouldn't have too many kids at one time, and they didn't know squat about contraception.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...onal_amenorrhea_method

For women who meet the criteria (listed below), LAM is 98% effective during the first six months postpartum.

Yeah the kick here is that if she ran into complications in labor, and they needed to abort to save her life, I'm sure her response would have been, yeah well, don't abort, goodbye cruel world.

Yeah, I'm gonna bet the house on that.

From reading the requirements it would seem that the reason it's effective is because there's little to no chance daddy is getting laid.

Even roaches take care of their kids. What's your point?
I know plenty of democrats (and republicans) that believe taking care of your kids means the following progression:

1) C-Section as to not mess up your pee pee (sorry about that darn risk to both child and mother)
2) Load up some formula and stick it in a bottle (sorry about that lower IQ, higher diabetes risk, worse immune system, etc.)
3) Give them solid foods well before they can digest it so they "sleep through the night".
4) Stick them in daycare to get back to work so they can make their SUV payments.
5) Stick them in all day kindergarten so as to not be bothered by their brats
6) And then of course, YAY public school!

They grow up, rinse and repeat.

So I think it speaks to her character. Regardless of the democrat party pooh-poohing family values, and republican hypocrisy regarding family values, family values mold the character of a young adult.

So I think it speaks highly to her committment to family values. Maybe you plan on raising your kids like a roach, but I raise my kids like they are the most precious thing in the world to me.

1-3 is bad because it directly has to do with the health of the child, but I don't see a problem with 4-6 other than the reasons you provide for them. My family does 4-6 and we do just fine. I know plenty of others that do 4-6 and they are pretty crappy parents though so I imagine those are the types of people you are referring to. I guess it just goes to show that there are many different and effective ways to skin the cat.

And her family values, or rather lack of any decent ones, led to her 17 year old daughter getting knocked up.

Pay attention to the people you know that had kids pre-18. From the ones I know or have met, not one of them had parents that qualified as even minimally competent. All it takes it a meager amount of involvement in your child's life to prevent it.

As far as the topic of this thread ... big fucking deal, she does something that is supposed to come natural. I pee daily, wanna make me vice president?
