Even if the McCain Palin ticket may lose in November, I suspect she is going to be a rising star for the GOP win or lose. And with Ted Stevens possibly being forced to resign, a scenario could arise where she just appoints herself as his successor if the McCain Palin ticket loses in November and Stevens wins the Senate race.
But that is one area where she is really weak, namely foreign policy experience of any kind. To some extent, McCain will have limited time to get Palin ready, and had more time been available, some foreign trips would have helped her resume. As for me, I would love to see her rip into GWB, Cheney, and the general corruption inside the GOP, but only time will tell.
