He's not the solution to all problems but he's the best free agent available right now.

Nets will still have either the Team exception or the MLE to sign free agents.
Nets are looking at, Marshall, Songaila, Dooling.

I'm praying it's Marshall + Dooling.

SAR is a half court, post up player. it'll be interesting to see if he can play with Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson who favor an uptemo, running game...

Nets will have a easy time scoring.
Their entire lineup minus Kristic commands a double team for the most part

you think Marshall and Dooling are going to split the MLE (~2.5 mil each)??

I'm praying. They dont have to be split evenly. Marshall is older and he knows he's not gonna get as much as he wants. Plus he said he wanted to come to thet Nets.
Maybe he'll come at a bargain.
Look at how much SAR rejected. He rejected 47million with the Bucks. SAR is an absolute bargain.

The Nets need a Ben Wallace clone. They don't need scorers. They can do that. They need an athletic big body that can make a presence in the paint to swat away shots and grab some boards.

Well we need a low post presence which SAR is.
Kidd won't have to take as many shots. And just dish it all night long to Kristic/Carter/Jefferson/SAR :)

4 options that can finish :) :):):):):):):):)

I really want Marshall and even Kyle Korver for the 3point threat.
With our lineup, Marshall and Korver will be open all night long to throw in 3's

umm, is everyone forgetting that Jefferson wasnt in the playoffs and a big chunk of the regular season?
That starting 5 with Shareef is Eastern Conference finals at the minimum barring injuries.

true, SAR is a bargain price. however, i can't see Dooling leaving the Heat for less money. ESPECIALLY if Damon Jones leaves and Dooling becomes #1 PG.

Donyell Marshall is an interesting free agent. not much has been said about him.

i'll give you that much....if the Nets miraculously sign Dooling and Marshall they might be able to crack the top tier of Eastern teams. no matter how much talent the roster has, it all comes down to how well they play and the defense they play. bottom line.

Kidd has come back from the Knee surgery pretty well.
He makes players around him better. SAR will regain his confidence.
Team chemistry is what it's all about. They'll have the whole summer to play together and practice.

He just came back for the playoffs.
He didn't even have a chance to get warmed up.
Can't do much when Dooling and DJones is lighting it up on the floor. Not to mention "Pussy Mourning" running around and playing like he's got 4 kidneys

The Bulls have a simlar setup to San Antonio. It's just that Gordon is no Ginobili and Curry is certainly no Duncan. They are a team set up around role players with an emphasis on defense.

Da Baby Bulls were dealt a bad deck when Curry went out with those heart problems right before the playoffs. They are still incredibly young (with the exception of a couple guys). Be on the lookout for them this year. I highly doubt you'll see them go 0-10 or whatever it was last year on the opening games. :p

Curry might be going to the Hawks.
Bulls better sign him and Chandler.

I'd love to have either of them on the Nets.

all i know is that NJ doesn't have the rebounding and size to match up with Detroit, Miami, and Indiana. coincidentally, those three teams are tops in the East. NJ will be exciting to watch and win games, but i seriously doubt they can beat any of those three in a playoff series.

Chandler would add some serious shot blocking and rebounding to NJ's bench.

The boy just went apesh!t during the fourth quarters.

He was fun to watch. And have as a wire pickup on my FBB team. :D

Case in point: Phoenix.

Amazing gameplay in the regular season. Thumped in the playoffs. (Memphis doesn't count :p)

Detroit does not worry me. We had Martin and Kittles over Carter/SAR?
Sar is a 20/10. Martin was pulling down similar numbers I think.
Martin definitely is a better defender. But I think Carters and Sar's scoring ability kinda makes up for that.
Kittles is a FA too. I hope we get him if he's reasonably healthy. He'll be running and gunning again like he use to and he was a great defender.

As a Blazer fan, I'm happy that this deal could go down. It gives Portland yet another 1st rounder next year (making 3), and brings back no salary in return. I just wish they'd been able to pry the Clippers pick next year from the Nets. And while I don't wish the Nets to fall on their face, it would be nice to get a decent first rounder out of the deal.
