If you remove the Hadiths (the life and times of Mohammed) and only follow the Quran, it is a MUCH more peaceful religion. Did you know the Quran calls Jews and Christians "The People of the Book" and says not to treat them the same as pagans/polytheists/godless? It basically says that mankind messed up the original info Allah sent down because we are flawed creatures. Through no fault of our own, we are no longer doing the right thing. This is why Allah sent down the Quran, to restore the proper way. Christians and Jews should be protected and taught the right way, as one does with a child who was taught wrong and therefor is confused.

Honestly, there is nothing more important than the commands of one's god, if one truely believes said god is real. It is one of the few things actually worth fighting and dying for. That said, one must actually deeply study the writings of the god before jumping into battle for the god.

All I care about is not having laws based on religion alone. I don't care if it is because 'God' specifically told them to enforce them or just implied it.

There are a lot of laws based on morality alone, such as public nudity and the plethoral of sexual laws. It is illegal to have sex in public, illegal to masteurbate in public, etc. The only reason to have such laws is morality...and the morality of a society is directly related to the predominant religion (or lack there of) in a society.

The term judeo-christian accurately reflects the heavy influence that the Old Testament has on conservative Christians. A lot of the more primitive stuff comes from the Old Testament. The fact that many American Jews today are secular and liberal doesn't really change that.

No, it's conservatives who use Judeo-Christian as a term, and the reason is to pretend like they aren't just doing it to cram Christianity down people throats, while doing exactly that. The term Christian already includes belief in the Old Testament, so no need to drag Jews into it. Certainly fighting for Christmas trees in public square, they aren't doing it for the Jews.
