The families allege the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle used by Adam Lanza, 20, in the incident should not have been made publicly available because it was designed for military use.
Twenty children died in the attack.
"There is one tragically predictable civilian activity in which the AR-15 reigns supreme: mass shootings," the court documents state.
Adam Lanza killed his mother at home before driving to the school
"Time and again, mentally unstable individuals and criminals have acquired the AR-15 with ease, and they have unleashed the rifle's lethal power into our streets."
Oh my goodness. This has got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever read, and ive been on the internet for 15 years. They are suing the gun manufacturer for making a gun? Which I would like to add, is just a glorified .22. These people are absolute idiots! What happened had nothing to do with the manufacturer, or the retailer (or even the owner), a mentally deranged individual acquired a long range weapon and used it against innocent civilians, thats it.

Will this open the door to people suing car companies involved with fatal accidents too?

What if it's not an accident but vehicular homicide? Can they sue the car company then?

All I know is, the next time my power goes out, im suing the electrical company. Or the next time I get stuck in an elevator, im suing the elevator company.

There is no way they are going to win.

I think the lawyers are either giving into the family's rage (which is understandable - the rage, not the lawyers doing what they are told) or they are manipulating them to get something (a settlement perhaps) out of this.

This would be like suing a company for making a box cutter or a butter knife that was used in a crime.

So if a relative hung themselves with a jump rope or clothesline, do you sue them because it did not have a warning on it?

Maybe I can sue the rug company if I trip over it.

So do you also sue the company that made your child's Bike because he fell off?

I feel for these families, but I'm sorry, suing the gun maker is straight retarded.

I hope they are just bitter from the loss, and not making a money grab.

Ever looked at all the warning labels on a ladder? They are there because of lawsuits from injuries.

They will sue regardless of favorable outcome. They are simply trying to cost a manufacturer and dealer money in hopes that it impacts their business. The gun grabbers have had this as their method for some time now. The law suit may not be viable, but it will still cost the defendants millions in legal fees/time.

Pathetic lawsuit, it's terrible they are trying to cash in on that tragedy.

Although, people did sue McDonalds because their coffee was too hot and won, so, there is precedent for winning stupid lawsuits.

If this goes anywhere, I might have to pick up a new Bushmaster AR and maybe even a Windham AR, to show my support and add to my collection.
