No fan included at that price, WTF?
But why buy this? As I stated in the other thread, 98% of people will see no difference with this over a 2500k in Gaming or a 2600k at anything else they do unless they are splitting hairs and looking for #'s on paper, all for $1000!

If I were a rich guy I'd probably not get one.
I would. In the past, I wouldn't buy the highest end CPU even if I had the money to burn because in 6 months it'll be obsolete, but I feel like we are getting to the point where that doesn't happen so much anymore. The top end CPU of 3 years ago is still pretty good, and I bet this CPU will still be pretty good even 4 years from now.
On 11/14/2015 maybe someone will dig up this post and show just how well (or poorly) the i7-3960X runs software of the day.
(That said, I am not "rich", and won't be buying an SB-E anytime soon.)
Rich is relative. Median income for someone with a job in the US these days is $28k, that's peanuts. Not many people earning that will spend $600 on a CPU. Hell, I do pretty well for myself, and it would be more than I could afford by the time I had the 4 DIMMs, board, and cooler. This processor is within the realm of affordability even for someone not rich. A Ferrari or a place in Pebble Beach is entirely different matter.
I looked at Newegg and couldn't find any coolers for SB-E. Do any current coolers work with this socket? I have not seen details except that it will not have a cooler and Intel was selling some on the side. I'm thinking of pulling thr trigger on a 3930K because already have 16 Gigs of ram,1050 PSU,a OEM copy of Win 7, a Corsair 600T case and going to crossfire my two 5870's. As Spongbob would say, I'm ready,I'm ready,I'm ready,I'm ready......

Speaking of which, yes. No coolers available for it right now. That's... interesting.
you can get 8gb for 50-60 bucks easily and sometimes even deals for 40 bucks or less out there. MOST people will be getting 16gb or more for an x79 board though.Wonder how much the cheapest x79 mobo for this will be .
Gonna assume with quad channel your smallest kit will most likely 8gb and hopefully shy of $100 .
