Sandy-Bridge Build: Feedback?

It weighs like 30 pounds, but the reports on its cooling abilities are at times overwhelmingly positive (newegg also provides more detailed information about the cooling capabilities of the case).

That's mostly due to the sheer popularity of CM. Unless they have ginormous hands or triple/quad GPU's it's really overkill for the majority of those who bought it.

I'm sure your mind is already made up, but check this one out. It's a bit more sensible and nicer looking than the 922.

Actually, the RAM is really a non-issue for me, and I like the recommended LZG-700 (50W extra won't hurt, 80 Plus Gold Cert unit).

Care to elaborate on the RAM?

Also, you're still really wasting money on the PSU. Like I said, the Lazer is nice, but it really doesn't do much for you. The power savings from efficiency will not make up the extra purchase price over the life of the unit.

Sure, I simply meant I've no more RAM concerns. All that's left is the question of the PSU.

The 650W is definitely sufficient for this build, I recognize that, however in all the research I've done the recommended unit for these GPU's after they've been unlocked is 750W. Notice the test setup here:

Now, even if I don't convince you, I'm still going with a 750W unit, and it's simply because whatever headroom there would be has advantages (say I wanted to upgrade/swamp out some hardware down the line that needed the greater wattage). I'd rather spend the money now than risk having to spend more money down the line.

I do appreciate the effort to save me money, I just have my own reasons for going with 750W.

That was just to provide an example. I've seen a lot of recommendations for 750W's for these GPU's in Crossfire unlocked, and again, there are advantages to the extra headroom.

I agree. Though I see his point. He could drop the gold efficiency and modularity to get this for about $60 less (AR).

A great unit. But high efficiency and modularity are extras that some people will pay extra for. At least the price difference is usually not very significant.

Are you reading a different post then what i posted? All i asked was if that was why he was picking it. ...😕 if you notice i didnt tell him to get a different one or that 750w is too much (he already knows this)

I suppose so. At this point he's really dug in like a tick. Pushing him will only make him cling to his choices more fervently.
