San Fran Sicko denies Marines to shoot a commercial

Never ask a liberal to uphold the values they so claim to cherish if it benefits those they consider to be an opposing view . Diversity and freedom of expression is only permitted for those who agree with their view.

Gotta love that free speech atmosphere in SF. Funny how the biggest oppressors of free speech are always the same ones touting it.

Maybe we should just sell SF to Iran, see how well SF residents can uphold thier "phenomenon" when president "I'm-in-a-Jihad" takes over.

I'm sure San Fran would have allowed them to film had the marines filmed it with their privates exposed.

Yeah, try getting permission to film an anti-war commercial on an army base and see how far you get.

Maybe we should just get rid of democracy and make you militarists happy, as the military clearly can do no wrong, and should simply be in charge of the nation, not 'politicians'.

If you oppose the idea, you must not support the troops. You probably want to spit on them, too, and should just move to Iran and see howyou like it there.

Except there is a HUGE difference...and if you dont see it there is something wrong with you.

riiiiiight, because I support free speech I'm a "militarist" I'll tuck that quote away for a rainy day...

If think you need to switch to decaf or something.

Which one should SF support, and which one should they reject?

Glad you guys have finally given up on that whole, "we support the troops, not the war" meme.

Just send in a bunch of marines and trash the place.

What I mean is have all the furloughs in San Francisco. Not only that tell all the military people to go to their office and hang out, just to agitate the problem. If they dont like the military send all the armed forces to all of their Gay parades and all of their social events just to make a statement. Let them experience what the military has.

Do you know how many military bases are in California? Do you know how much tax dollars they pay to the state?

How many times are you going to attempt to troll your own troll post?

michaels has a point.

What point? That could be the stupidest phrase ever uttered. I think the nazis were more intollerant than anyone and I don't recall them screaming that they were in fact tollerant. There goes your theory. Conflating dissent with tollerance is a nice trick, but it only works on the ignorant. If I claim to be a generally tollerant person but you want to advocate torturing babies, I don't think organizing a protest against you qualifies as being intollerant.

The republicans love to claim they have a "big tent" that everyone can fit under. Yet they legislate against gays, have 'scheduling conflicts' when the black caucus or hispanics ask them to debate. So if your statement about claiming to be tollerant was true, I think they'd have a problem.

The military discriminates against gays, has generals publicly declare homosexuality to be immoral, and ejects them from the service if discovered, yet they want to film a recruitment ad in the epicenter of gay culture? Yeah, those gay people are so intollerant.

That said, I don't see what legal grounds they have for refusing the ad.

Say what?? I've toured bases, went to air shows, etc. It's not like they are top secret installations.

Yep; turn it into a huge homo-fest and they would be more than happy to I'm sure.

So you are saying all civilians have the right to enter bases and go anywhere they want in them at any given time?

Notice how Right Wingers love Police States.

Amazing how military people can't handle losing any amount of hero worship. Oh no, some people in a city don't like you, they must be intolerant nutjobs, we better head in there and make them like us!

Prove your old "friends" story then, what you describe is almost exactly the same in the movie -it was even in the SF airport.

Busted. (I just watched it 2 weeks ago which is why I brought it up) 😉

Haha, I cannot find anything on the net about this. I consider it nonsense until proven otherwise, just a silly story designed and spread to cement the pro-military/anti-protester demagogue.

ou guys need to get a damn grip here. The extent to which the military has been idolized by people borders on a fetish

Absolutely right. Calling every college flunkee who joined the army a hero is nuts, and yet many do call them that. Every time somebody from the military says anything, many people first preface any statement with a "First, I want to say thanks for serving the country." It's all so disingenuous and just cliche, corny, cheesy and painful to listen to.

Military bases are private federal property while the streets of San Francisco are not.

Would the National Guard deny support to San Francisco in the case of an emergency? My guess is that they would provide the support and aid without hesitation.

The lady that made this decision is a wench of the highest order, and betrays the very concepts of open-mindedness and tolerance - which, as far as I know, is the unspoken motto in SF...

It's sick.

Are you saying that the only people in the military are flunkees?

LOL, don't divert. I said:

Now explain this huge difference your alluding to for me.

As palehorse said, military bases are private federal property while the streets of San Francisco are not.

That is a huge difference.
