Even without the porn mod, that game should proabably be rated Adult Only, in my opinion. I laugh while playing it but I think it's way too derogatory and 'wrong' for teenagers.
Rated M=17, Rated R=17. There is nothing more derogatory in that game vs other rated R movies. I'd like to see you justify that position. Do I really need to link to movies with similar content?
No argument there. There are many movies that I feel should have stricter ratings. I tend to agree with other parts of the world that violence and gore is worse than nudity and sex. Yes, I realize the GTA argument is based on sex/porn. My feelings are based on the violence in the game.
So you also believe violent rated R movies should receive rated X?
This game is NO worse than many R rated movies. What you're asking for would shake up the ENTIRE etnertainment industry.
Seriously, do you realized how many movies receive R for violence? Those flicks wouldn't make it to the big screen with X ratings. Think about the consequences of what your asking for...
A movie like Scarface? Yes. A movie that has some violence that is key to the plot, R is fine. GTA is a game that strives to be as violent and derogatory as possible. It's nothing but violence and illegal activity. I have no problems with these games being developed, so don't misunderstand my intentions. However, I do think they should be clearly marked as for adults only. If a parent still buys it for their kids, then it's their problem.
Also, before this, I was under the impression that M = AO. I don't see why there are two levels when there is only one year in between.
Adult only=never going to be made, unless it's done on a porn flick budget.
So you'd be OK with movies such as Scarface, Untouchables, <insert drug/mafia movie> Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, <insert quentin tarantino flick>, Saving Private Ryan, <insert just about all war movies> having NEVER been made because they would receive an X rating?
Do you realize "adults only" is the death knell of ratings, right?
edit: adding American Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal.
All of these are TOP rated movies. I'd hate to have never seen these made because of a BS rating system.
