well, again, the 128gb option has already been on samsung's official website, i'd be shocked if it wasn't offered at some point. Though it might not be until the european release in Q1 2016.

I'm guessing it's because of Samsung wanting to beat the 6S+ to market.

the cost/benefit analysis does not lie

how are you doing a cost benefit analysis on two phones running two totally different operating systems? Not to mention you're the one placing significance on the mSD and removable battery yet that's totally not a downside to the iphone? Lol I just don't understand why you're here, or what it is you're trying to say.

I can understand between two similar android devices, or between the IP6 vs IP6+, but to try and do it between android and iphone is just silly to begin with.

k, let's just agree to disagree then. I do it every year, so it's not a hard thing for me to do.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a iPhone 6S Plus - it'll be a great phone. But for all those bemoaning the lack of mSD or battery, that's the benefit of the Android ecosystem. There are options for you - certainly more options if you want mSD, but you can get what you want.

I do think removable batteries more and more are niche - not like several years ago when battery life was pretty bad across the board. Note 4 + battery life will serve almost everyone fine, fast charging will help the remainder, and the small group left who actually actively uses multiple batteries are being left intentionally to go to another OEM.

Hopefully now that the Note 5 is out, more of this thread will focus on real world usage and experience. That'll probably be more useful to others vs. the ad nauseum circular debates on forums about mSD and removable battery.

So far the camera is really good, did some comparison photos between my G2 and the Note5 and the Note5 is by and far the clear winner. I would share the pics but it's an entire album of bong pictures so not sure if that's appropriate for this subforum... (PM if you want a link to the album I suppose)

Other than that I have been playing some hearthstone and I have to say I am enjoying playing it with the S-pen far more than I thought I would, its very fluid and quite nice to use.

The display is of course amazing, fantastic looking, very vibrant (AMOLED, duh).

and finally the charging, this thing charges very quickly compared to my G2, went from 50% to full charge in under an hour while I was actively using it. and so far it has not gotten any more than fairly warm, doesnt get really hot to the touch from what I have noticed so far.

I am enjoying the phone a lot I must admit.

How is the battery life so far on it? I'd like to see a comparison between the note 4 and 5 personally on this, if the battery life is about that same then I wouldn't mind moving to a 5 myself.

I have had it plugged in at my desk since i got it, so I can't really report on that yet. However, from reports it is actually slightly better than the note 4, so you might be interested. Wait for full reviews for real testing on that though.

Went to AT&T to play with the N5 & GS6+. Note is gorgeous. OS seems really fluid. Camera is great. Really felt nice in hand. Smaller, yet bigger.
GS6 edge+ is so thin & light. Really, it is astounding. Camera & screen are simply amazing.
Don't care for the glass back. Really slippery.

Yeah I have to say I was really impressed when my gf got a regular s6 edge, I'm not sure if it's the soc or the ufs but any little delays I saw from my note 4 were gone on her phone. Id definitely get a case for a note 5 though, which is a shame because I bet it looks great without one. The note 4 I don't feel like a need one since its not slippery at all, the newer design feels like its trying to fly out of your hand.

14 hours off the charger, 3 hours 2 minutes screen on time, 42% battery left, on track for around 5 and a half hours of screen on time.

No reason to upgrade my Note 4 for sure. That is good, I need to take a break from buying phones for a while! Note 4 does everything I need/want.

Results are pretty in-line with the S6. The Note 5 screen can get brigther than the Note 4, is accurate in Basic mode, is a bit more power efficient (still not the match of the best LCDs at high APL levels).

Overall takes the great display in the Note 4 and makes it a little bit better. However it looks like the real-life benefits year to year are starting to really level off.

Looking forward to get mine tomorrow.

This is always nice to see

the Note 5 display actually uses less power than the Note 4 in spite of its much higher brightness.

You guys with the Note 4's see any reason to upgrade to the Note 5? I'm pretty happy with my Note 4, but the system seems to lag on basic stuff like pressing the app switcher soft key button and starting up the camera. Like a 1.5sec lag and I'm on stock Android Lollipop for T-Mobile.

I'm guessing the Note 5 will give me a smoother UI experience and faster camera but not sure if worth it for ~$450 net after I sell my Note 4

I can't speak from a note 4 perspective, but reports are showing its generally a bit faster and smoother overall and if that's what's bugging you about the note 4, the note5 might be worth it for you. But if you are happy with the note 4 as it is, I don't think you should spend the money.

If you utilize the SD and removable battery or the IR blaster on the Note 4 then no. If you dont and have the moola then yes. Other than that, its more cosmetic than functional. IMO.

I don't think it's a fair assessment unless you factory wipe the note 4, that way you get a closer 1:1 representation for the base of your comparison. I'm willing to bet that whatever 1.5s lag you're experiencing now will not be there once you wipe your device.

One of the biggest complaints in the original note 4 reviews was the unpolished software that caused occasional hitching, so I wouldnt be so sure about this.

Are you on Lollipop? The recent apps delay on my Note 4 has gotten a bit better from KK, but honestly it is mostly just software optimization. I'm running a debloated, optimized ROM and the delay for me is must shorter than stock.

For me, its mostly just having the newest and best and after the AT&T offer and selling my Note 4, not costing very much.

- The camera IMO is going to be much better. Maybe not from an all-out image quality standpoint, but from a usability POV. Faster launch, quicker focus, better low light quality. All things that make me reach for my wife's iPhone 6 more than my Note 4 when I need consistency (e.g. baby is doing something funny).

- Fingerprint scanner - I've adapted to the Note 4 one pretty well, but would like something more reliable

- Bit more compact - wasn't expecting this, a small plus

- Samsung Pay on magstripe and NFC - I'm going to give this a legit shot at replacing most of my credit cards if it works reliably for a couple weeks.

- It's less important to me, but it is a much sexier phone than the Note 4

Well if the note 5 is like the S6 then those two specific things are fixed. The camera and multitasking open almost instantly on my gf's S6 which is pretty nice.

No, I need more than 64gigs of space and I use the IR blaster on the phone. I wouldn't bother. Maybe the note 6 will be worth it.

So some thoughts after 24 hours:

1. Fingerprint scanner is great -yes, I know you iPhone owners and S6 owners are used to a good one, but just a light touch unlocks very quickly.

2. Build is great - feels great, I really like the curve on the back as an accent and to hold. Oddly more comfortable from a size POV than my Note 4 - even though its just a mm here and there.

3. It is slippery compared to the Note 4 - though I do have a slim case on the way which I'll decide whether to use. Honestly feels less slippery than the 6 Plus, though I'd have more confidence in the 6 Plus to survive moderate drops without damage.

4. Stock UI and layout is toned down from the Note 4 - seemed fine to me. Theme stores are a nice touch that many OEMs are using - I switched to the Material Dark theme (like I had on my Note 4) and it looks great. Way way easier than finding a theme and flashing it manually.

5. The Note 5 has a higher information density than the Note 4 (i.e. more content per screen) as the lcd_density is 560 instead of 640. Makes a noticeable and positive difference.

6. So far everything is fluid and fast - a small, but noticeable improvement over the Note 4 which had the occasional hiccup.

7. Setting up was surprisingly easy as I used the NFC tap option for the first time - you touch your old phone to your new phone. All my apps and accounts auto downloaded - I still had to login to my apps, but it certainly made setup faster.

8. Screen is excellent as expected - I always use Basic mode and it looks great.

9. Charges crazy fast - faster even than my Note 4. 15 minutes of charge gets you a ton of battery life.

10. Samsung gives a 30% coupon for registering device - I may use it for the fast wireless charger.
