You might try this link. I have a video card that won't output to screen above 1680x1050 resolution on one of it's DVI outputs (Once I try 1080p it's completely black). Seems to be what you are describing. I suspect in my case it's a poor single link DVI cable that I'm using. I'll replace with a better quality dual-link DVI cable from monoprice eventually, your situation might be the same but I'm not sure.
 
No I'm getting nothing. It seems as though I've bought an extremely expensive paperweight. Unless, I can convert VGA to hdmi and have that work?
 
I'm probably going to buy an HDMI LCD TV for £100 and then use my Samsung as a secondary monitor to my macbook pro when i get it in september.
