Well, at the very least there are fewer stutters (if you use Android and are honest, you'll know there are a few places that occasionally stutter because hardware specs isn't the limitation). It's been very smooth so far as I'd expect anyway.

Sounds great. How is battery life?

The avg user doesn't see that file system. What sense does that make "If you jailbreak"?

The avg user doesn't see the Android file system either, definitely not on the level that's been shown in this thread.

I dunno. I've been told I'm pretty average and I use Linux. But I'm not sure where you inferred I said anything of the sort anyhow. You mentioned the file system looked complicated and I simply stated to a Linux user it isn't. No reason to read anything else into it.

Anyone who's using Linux (even if it was installed by someone else for them and they really had no choice in the matter) is by definition, not average.

When it comes to MicroSD cards, stick with SanDisk. There is no alternative.
Just make sure you don't buy it from eBay.

Weren't there some corruption issues with some subset of cards? I can't remember the hubbub for last year - but it seemed focused on a particular brand and I think manf range. I believe it's a non-issue now, especially for newly bought cards, but does anyone remember the details?

Ok thanks for the double advice. I was looking on Ebay lol. This phone deserves a better Micro SD than my Samsung Class 6 32GB one.

And the file system/directories we're talking about isn't accessible through normal means, nor should they be.

Not sure about that incident or which manufacturer/brand that was involved, but that's what usually happens when you order fake "Chinese" SanDisk cards from eBay.
Slow speeds, silent data corruption, etc...

If you're going to order a SanDisk, only order from BlueProton on Amazon, Newegg, Tiger Direct, etc...Check SanDisk's website for authorized retailers.
It's estimated that ~40% of SanDisk SD/MicroSD cards on the market are frauds. I wouldn't trust eBay, especially with their customer service.

Authorized SanDisk resellers:

Will do. Best Buy has them on sale right now too.

Now that I know that there won't be a 32GB white S4 (I am hooked on the white) getting a big SD card is my best solution.

What's the file system that is visible short from rooting?

Usually /mnt/SdCard -- which is basically a space where applications dump their temporary/user-related files, and a general space where the user can store things.

You can go up to the root directory or /system, but without root access you can't modify anything.

Is SanDisk really that popular/good for there to be so many fakes?

Just bought the 64GB card at Best Buy, so I know for sure its legit. I noticed it comes formated exFAT by default. I sure hope someone rocks some NTFS support into a S4 kernel soon.

Unlikely to happen because it's so patent laden.

exFAT is pretty much just as good (and non-functional in Cyanogenmod because of patents again).

OK this Sandisk card officially sucks. My write speeds across the board are half as slow as my class 6 32GB Samsung card. The 4k writes don't go above a 2:

I guess I will return it and pay the premium for the Samsung 64GB Micro card.
