Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Like browsing the internet or sending and receiving emails and text messages? There's a reason why Samsung did not put their crappy AMOLED screen on their Galaxy Camera. Samsung knew people who actually gave a damn about image quality would not tolerate such a terrible reproduction...

Messaging app on touchwiz is on a black background so try again. Web browsing is the only thing that would have you on a white background for a majority of the time. I assume this would be mostly on news sites that users would spend most of their time on as plenty of other kinds of sites have their design on a colored background. my device usage barely has any browser usage as I use an rss reader for news. I use tapatalk for forum browsing. i use a reddit app for reddit.

I just got the Note II and it has been great the past week or so. I'm not really noticing a blue tint against either my Nexus 7, Desire Z, or computer screens.

Overall... biggest plus over my previous phone is probably performance or battery life. I'm not really sure what I plan to do with the S-Pen, as I haven't found a substantial use for it other than showing off.

I bought the Anker package ($20) off of Amazon and have been really pleased. Their batteries are on par with the stock battery in battery life. However the charger provided only charges at about 350ma or something... so the 3100mah battery takes a while.

Have any other Note II owners contemplated a case? I've never broken a screen on a device yet without cases, but would hate to start now.

I have a Galaxy Note and it definitely is a cooler temperature than my LCD screens but it's hardly "OMG Blue! Kills my eyes!" territory.
Remember, to be an effective "exaggeration troll" you always have to take the most minute 'flaw' you can possibly nitpick and then act like it's the end of the entire freakin' universe.

Considering the screen is the part of the phone you will interact with over 95% of the time, I think it's a big deal. I would not call that a "minute flaw". It's not like we're talking about the L1 cache on the processor or the SRAM...

I don't think anyone here who actually has a note 2 has mentioned any kind of issue whatsoever with the screen, blue tint or whatever. perhaps you just need to give it up man.

My two are pretty close to each other and not noticeably tinted. That's not to say it can't happen. It's not prevalent though, I believe.

I just got the Note 2 and love it, don't notice a blue tint. Looking at the posting history of Dari he seems to always post negative things about Samsung in this forum and usually mentions a Blue tint on all the various Samsung phone threads. That pattern = troll.

sprint note 2 with a papermate for comparison

FWIW side by side with mine and my wifes, color balance appears identical.

I'm not sure that constitutes being a troll. Isn't the other explanation that Samsung calibrates their oled displays to display a cooler color temp? Their OLED products are universally regarded as having inaccurate color reproduction. This includes the Note 2, although one is able to set a more neutral color scheme, unlike the U.S GS3: http://www.cnet.com/8301-17918_1-57540240-85/screens-test-part-2-galaxy-note-2-vs-apple-iphone-5/

I was just browsing the VZW accessories on their site, and I should have screen capped it, but it showed a Galaxy Note 2 Wireless Charging battery door. I know... I know.. There are no pins for wireless charging on the GN2. I'm confused as well, but it was there.

I think it was a major glitch and freak thing. 🙁

Only on the VW Note 2, other US versions have the pins hooked up.

I believe the T-Mobile version also requires some sort of modification to get the wireless charging function working. There's a thread on XDA describing a fairly quick process involving some soldering.

Right. That's what I meant. The VZW one doesn't have the pins for it.

Also, you can do that with the VZW GN2, but the thing is I don't know how to solder or have any equipment and that's just racking up more cost for me.

I think I'm going to just plug the device in instead of being able to use an awesome technology.

That or I'm going to get the employee edition DNA with Fat Boy for $99 instead. Not too sure yet!

WELL!
Since my thread is apparently shit, I will post here.

I like everything except a couple little nit picks. For my app list I prefer categories like is found on my Atrix 2, as opposed to the folders the Note 2 uses.

Other than that its perfect. If theres no mobile app for something I just use the web browser, which always works great. Most apps work fine, many have an HD mode and look awesome. Uploading pics is quick and easy. Writing emails is wonderful. Battery life is so good I often forget to charge the thing for 3 days.

Only issue right now is lack of accessories. Still need a proper docking station.

I believe if you register your note at samsungs site, they still email you a 50% off coupon code for their online accessory store. it's a great way to stock up on first party accessories. there's quite a bit of unique things on there to check out.

Based on other threads he seems like he may have an issue with Korean stuff as a whole and not just Samsung. He always goes out of his way to push the superiority of Japanese products and even point out that his HTC One S was purchased in Japan as if that absolves it from being a Taiwanese phone with a pentile Samsung qHD Super Amoled display.

First off, your complaint about application listing can be fixed by changing the launcher, you should know that.

And, there are docks available - look at Samsung's official list of accessories.

hmm, going to have to try that. already bought a car dock and flip cover at half off. the samsung flip cover is great. waiting for samsung to release their pico projector. saw the brookstone one and was impressed. i absolutely love this phone

Sorry, I'm too intelligent and mature to be dragged into a pissing contest with you.

But good luck trolling everyone else.

Not sure if I understand you.

I state that someone who has owned quite a few Android phones in the past should know that there's alternate launchers to suite your need of sorting your apps.

I also state that you can get a dock through Samsung - hell, even Seidio has them.

I fail to 1) understand how this is a pissing contest, 2) how the fuck am I trolling anyone? and 3) if you're "too intelligent" to get into a pissing contest, how come you're not intelligent enough to answer your own questions?
