Samsung F4 2TB $79 at Newegg is back

I have two and they're very high quality - quiet, pretty quick for 5400 RPMs. So I'm not sure where the talk of a high failure rate is coming from. This is a very good deal if you need to bolster your storage space.

Picked this drive up a few weeks ago for $89, and I'm very pleased with its performance. On a side note, it seems newegg has really stepped up in the hard drive packaging dept. since my last order a year ago.

I have been running my first for a few days now and no issues. HD Tune Pro says that this drive is faster than my 7200 rpm WD 500gb. I realize the WD is an older drive, but even random access is faster. Average and burst transfer are twice as fast.
I ordered a second and am hoping black Friday they might even be cheaper. I would pick up 2 more and after thorough stress testing I will create a new RAID 5 to replace my current 4 x 500gb one.

My first drive came wrapped in bubble wrap in a white box and this box was in a brown box with crumpled paper. Maybe it depends what warehouse they ship from. Most of mine come from NJ.

I bought a bunch of these at $99 a while back, and they run and test flawlessly. They are faster than all my other drives other than my small OS drive.

I think I have hard drive depression. I just have a hard time getting excited about 2TB drives after seeing them for $59 last week. Man, those were the days 🙁

😉

I bought 4 for my NAS box with no issues and no smart errors. Generally, I would suggest burning in ANY new drive as the failures usually will happen in the first few hours/days.

Waithing for $59 deal.
One thing must know guys: NEVER BUY ITEM FOR REGULAR PRICE BECAUSE AFTER COUPLE DAYS THEY WILL BE ON SALE(From my personal experience).

Me too. Want one, but won't jump at $79 if it was $59 a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully it will hit that price again before Christmas.

Yes, I noticed that too when I bought this during the $89 sale a few weeks ago. I haven't had any problems with the drive.

Over the last year, I've bought 12 TB worth of data storage, all at excellent prices. I can't believe it, this is the HD "happy times." Three 2TB WD model EAD "green" drives, one 2TB WD model EAR "green", one 2TB Samsung F4(s), and two 1TB Samsung F3(s).

And by the time you find out about it, will be OOS....from my personal experience.

dunno why people fuss over this, harddrives are rated for like 150G when not operating.

Would you be happy to find your hard drive packed in the bottom of the box of loosely filled packing peanuts, wrapped in bubble wrap that has been mostly popped during shipping? Even if a hard drive was designed to withstand that kind of shock, I don't want to find my new item like that.

So the sale is over. What does Newegg do the day the sale is over? Drop the regular price to $79.99 with free shipping.
