See, I read that the program might slow down your phone, yet I've tested it and on my phone and it seems to speed it up. Other people saw the same result as myself.

And yes, you could always just shut down the program properly. Easy to forget while on the run with your phone.

Anyways, Advance Task Manger does help you keep track of the running programs, easy to shut them off and and in the long run, that will help you save battery power.

But, I guess it doesn't work the same on every phone?

People should test it out,.. see if it's what they're looking for.

Same here the app, made my phone faster. App rocks, my battery life is at what it should be.

I've taken to spamming Samsung's facebook with the same response until I get some type of message back or they kick me:

Hey Samsung do you even read these? How about fixing the GPS issue and/or giving us Froyo? I spent $500 out of my pocket on my phone. You keep launching the same phone on different carriers. You might want to fix the broken ones that people bought SOON!!!!!

Have you tried the GPS files from the leaked Samsung rom? I think my GPS is fixed now. Used it all weekend even up in the mountains no problem. I get 7-9 sat lock quickly indoors pretty much anywhere I am. Maps and navigation no longer randomly lock up my phone.

yep. I'm also running Froyo now.

Its a principle thing. They keep selling the phone and releasing it on more carriers knowing damn well that they have a problem.

Standard MO for Samsung though, given the Moment and Beholds? The Galaxy S phones are very nice devices with some excellent hardware behind them, but Samsung needs to support them like the high end devices they are.

And they aren't. Everytime I post that I get 20+ people jumping in.

I don't expect it to make any huge difference but I want to be an annoyance.

I'm running the JI2 FW. Phone is running great for me, and I'm more than happy with it.

Don't know if this is a problem with the other Galaxy S phones, but the Epic appears to be capped at 150kbps upload speed (kbps, not kB/s) while on 3G. On top of that, I'm getting truly horrible download speeds on 3G as well. My Moment usually got me at least 700/300, but the Epic is giving me 300/100 (sometimes 200/50 or less) in the same area with nearly full bars.

My wife's getting an Evo later this week. I'm still within my return period; I may well decide to swap the Epic for another Evo despite the less brilliant screen, lack of a keyboard, and slower CPU. HTC have problems too but I was sick of putting up with the Moment's ridiculous bugs and I have a feeling the Epic will have a similar level of problems. And the Evo has tons more aftermarket development going on for it and even an official Froyo update.

i really dont know much about this, but im pretty sure this is the reason:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740213&highlight=hsupa

its not enabled. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

I have a Samsung Epic, on Sprint. It doesn't have HSUPA. Sprint does have a 4G (WiMAX) network, but it's inconsistent for now (not officially up and running in my city yet). In a month or so it's supposed to go live, but even then I can't just leave 4G on all the time.

After reading a couple of the last posts I decided to google some info on the firmware update.

Found this:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/AT-T-Pushes-New-Firmware-Update-for-Samsung-Captivate-157557.shtml

Did a manual check on my Cap and sure enough it pulled the latest firmware:

I897UCJH7

I see the QuickOffice and a new Navigation app from Google. Media scanning did seem a bit snappier. Still have to see the other improvements as I use my Cap. Never had a problem with my GPS so can't say that's fixed.

Samsung has been blowing up their facebook promising updates to "All Carriers soon".

I'm still going to spam every post that I see until: 1. my phone works right 2. I sell it

cognition 2.2 rooted

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

how is it compared to 2.1? right now im using cog 2.1.4 and its been the best ROM i've had so far, so im hesitant to change.

Does it seem faster? better battery life? Right now my battery life is awesome, so thats probably the one thing holding me back.

How hard is it to switch to cog 2.2?

I'd want to give it a fresh start, so i would probably completely wipe the device, use odin one click to go back to stock, then flash to the 2.2 firmware that samsung released, then root, then flash Cog.

I have all my apps backed up in titanium backup, so theres nothing im worried about losing.

i ran sre 1.2.1 since i got it a few months ago up until yesterday when i flashed(didn't have to wipe, just had to be rooted) to this version of cog. i'm happy with it. it's very snappy. i love the task manager. the gallery is also SO much faster. movements in general(swiping to unlock or the puzzle piece) just seem smoother. battery life seems good. couldn't tell you if it was any 'better'. i'll keep this for a while at least until the official froyo and even then i'll probably wait until it rooted.

I'm also running 2.1.4 and love it. I think i'll wait a few more weeks for them to polish 2.2 a bit more.
