It works great for me but the highest resolution I really use is 1280x1024.

Good point, has anyone ever tried running 'any' 19" monitor at 1600x1200? I have, it looks real nice (from about 2 inches in front of the screen).

Personally, I think 1600x1200 is a bit too much (small) for a 19" monitor anyway, I also use mine @ 1280x1024.

Yeah, has anyone got shipping confirmation? They've been running the "free shipping this day only" for at least 5 days now. I wonder if they need an influx of cash for some reason, and are then going to cancel a bunch of orders.

I don't see how they can be making any money selling a 19" Samsung 950B for $131 delivered. Shipping alone must cost them $30 or so.

At this point there is no way I would buy a shadow mask monitor. Aperture grille technology is just flat out better in every single performance categorey. You can get a really nice 19" AG monitor for about $250 shipped (closer to $300 if you are going for higher end models). In my opinion, the extra 60 or 70 bucks is well worth the increase in picture quality and features. I just got a Sony G420s for $277.79 from Dell using coupons, which is an insane deal if you can put it together (one of my coupons was $100 off $400 and it came with my sister's laptop...) Anyway, just something to keep in mind when looking at a new 19" monitor....

They're moving, so they run a "one-day only" free shipping special for multiple days...?

Reminds me of the smell of Coriolis.

To see what kenja is talking about, read the latest post in reselleratings. I'd definitely be wary of this company. They have the lowest price in Pricewatch for almost any specific monitor you input. In other words, it's a fire sale, with the "this day only" free shipping making you anxious to buy--and now they are not answering the phone.

Of course, speaking of free shipping, most Anandtechers are willing to deal with Dell, but there have been many, many horror stories there as well.

Anyway, use a credit card with good fraud coverage. Don't use a regular check card, for example.

If you do a price match on the 955df with staples you may still be able to use a coupon and save another $30(30 off 150). If it works the 955df could be had for $156. This is how I got my 955df.....which I am happy with so far. There is also an upcoming 19in envision that will be $110(200-50MIR-40coupon)starting on the 3rd at staples.

also...there will be a deal at staples for a $50 17in envision(150-70MIR-30coupon).

Good deal. A lot better than my SyncMaster 950b for $170 at staples purchase a few weeks ago.

My dad has one that uses a cd tray type to get to the monitor adjustment controls.
The one that I just got just has the controls out on the front and the monitor edges around the screen are thinner.

why the difference?

Reseller Ratings for EMS Computing

I dunno guys/gals... this company seems kinda iffy. Very mixed reviews and since they are in a big move right now still put on *hot deals* which they can't ship and didn't tell anyone about the moving process on the web site I'm guessing I surely wouldn't be giving my hard earned money to these people.

ps. Never buy from edgemicro or alpha business international (buyaib.com - especially RAM)... get the word out. Both companies commit fraud on a regular basis. PM me for any detail.

The latest EMS ratings and comments are putting me off dealing with them. Wife's planning to hit Staples for a PM on her way home from work tonight, I'll let you all know how it goes.

as far as I concern that Samsung 955DF monitor is a junk. Had them at home both at the same time. Return both.
Even if they paid me I would not keep it. geometry problems unadjustable. waisted 2 weeks trying to adjust.

I've worked on 6 different Samsung 955DF's and they are almost impossible to beat for the performance they give at there price point. They are Invar Shadow Masks which in my opinion is better. AG tubes like the Trinitrons and Diamondtrons are nice but, fine text and lines are fuzzy unless you get a professional model which is in no way the same class as the 955DF. This is an awesome monitor and Samsung's Tech support is awesome my brother had one of the older 900p and the yellow went out they had a replacement shipped to his door within 2 days and covered shipping both ways. AG's do have some things going for them. There color and contrast are better in my opinion. If you want a higher end Samsung look at the 900NF (Diamondtron tube) or the 900IFT (Invar Shadow Mask).

Different numbers but Sams club has the samsung PL9 19" for 149.98, the 900S for 169.97, and the OS-9F perfectly flat for 189.97. I'm sure everybody will have a problem with these but if what you are looking for is cheap.....

GREAT, EMS SUCKS, just got a backordered e-mail when I checked the stock before I ordered and 9 units were in stock.. they tell me if I have any reason to change or cancel my order to call them at their number that gives me some BS about they have no phone lines which btw is long distance. I've emailed them 4 times in the past 5 days and NO replies, this company sucks people, move along.. don't get raped like me. I'm never ordering from them again.

Once again it seems reseller ratings has won one for the team :) Gizmo... go to reseller ratings and post your story... it will only help others :) And always check any company you ever buy from @ reseller ratings... I could have saved myself so much trouble in the past... b/c every company that I have had bad problems with has terrible comments on reseller ratings... it's a god send :) l8rz all

I ordered a Samsung 753DF on the 27th, charge was posted the same day. Confirmation email of the order, but no notice of shipment.

Oh well, I could have blown the money on lottery tickets instead. (Thank goodness Providian makes it easy to contest charges.)

Damn Staples CS people are retarted

I was on the phone for 20 minutes (most of which was spent on hold) trying to PM this monitor, and after the first LONG hold, the lady comes back and says they aren't the same monitor... says that the one on EMS is a SyncMaster, and the Staples one is not... SO, i point out that on the product description on STAPLES webpage it says, and i quote "Go ahead, stare all you want. Your work never looked as good as it will on the Samsung SyncMaster 955DF."

SO she puts me on hold again, then comes back and says she can't price match because she can't getl EMS on the phone to validate that they have any in stock. I tell her there is a "check stock" button on the EMS page that checks real time inventory, and they have something like 1800+ in stock, and she STILL won't let me PM becasue she can't get them on the phone.

dammit i wish their reseller ratings were better, who else can i call to pricematch??

Do you not have a Staples B&M anywhere near you? They didn't give my wife any crap about PMing that monitor at all the other day.

I've been using my Sony G410R 19" at 1600x1200@85Hz since I got it a few weeks ago. It looks fine and crisp, with it's .24 dotpitch. 8pt font is quite small at this resolution but still very readable. It really depends on the websites you visit too. Most websites don't have any automatic detection of what resolution you are using. So at 1600x1200 things get quite small, so I usually have to put the text setting to "larger" in my browser. The website is at fault, because 12pt font at 1280x1024, looks like it is only 6pt font at 1600x1200. Websites need to get their act together and make sites that automatically detect and enlarge text for higher resolutions. A simple Javascript program will do this.

I ordered from staples on Wednesday. My first call was to a yougn female rep that after putting on hold for 5 minutes came backl and told I couldn't price match because EMS charged over $100 for next day shipping. A bogus excuse on her part, but after arguing with her a for a few minutes I decided to hang up and try another rep. My next call was to a nicer older lady. She put me on hold for about 10 minnutes and came back and told me she was trying to verify that the EMS monitor had the same 3 year warranty that theirs did. 8 minutes later she came back on and told me that she would pricematch. I then asked her to apply the $30 off of $150 coupon and she put me on hold for 2 more minutes :) She came back and ask me for the code. Total came to $156 + tax. ~$10. She said, "Your getting a really good deal." and I said "Yep" :)

I then asked her if I could pick it up at the store and she said it would have to be shipped from the warehouse because it was an item that my local Staples didn't carry in-store. I should get it next monday.

Is this deal over? I search from the main page and it can't find a Samung 955DF, even though I can find it serching through links for it. But when I found the thing it's listed for $280.
