Not able to link directly to the product page, but EMS are currently selling the 995DF for $186 with free UPS ground shipping. A quick search for Samung 955DF from the main page will get you there. Free shipping special is listed as "today only".

EMS comments at Reseller Ratings.

this is a better deal.

The max res on the Samsung 955df is like 1600x1200@65hz making that resolution impossible to use

The Compaq P910 does 1600x1200@85hz. Even goes up to as far as 1920xXXXX (can't think of it now).
Plus, the P910 has the Diamontron NF tube which is one of the best out there.

Go with the P910 if you have the extra $60.

Edit: I edited link for non-subscribers

What would you recommend for around 200-250? So there's this monitor, that Compaq, and I heard about a NEC that's also good?

350$ for analog 15" LCD and 550$ for 17" LCD is wayyyy too steep

I thought about getting an LCD too...but spending more for a monitor that has a highest resolution of 1024x768 is crazy.

I've been looking for a monitor for about the last year (nothing serious, until about a month ago) and for under $250 that Compaq is the best I've found.
I was going to get the Samsung 900nf @ Dell for $280 (or so) shipped, but then this Compaq deal came up.

Not sure which NEC monitor you're talking about, but I haven't seen any deals on them for a while.

I think the Compaq deal would be your best bet.

You must have missed out on the deal about a month ago. I pricematched Staples to EMS, which I think was still $186, applied a $40 coupon which pretty much paid for shipping, and then there was a $50 mail-in-rebate which is on its way. So like me a lot of people got them for $140-150 shipped depending on where they pricematched and taxes.

It works great for me but the highest resolution I really use is 1280x1024.

Oooo this is a tough choice for those potential 19" monitor buyers out there....

Compaq P910 vs. Samsung 955DF

I personally recommend the P910 for the extra dough since it has an awesome display and can do 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz, but I might have to recommend this deal to my sister, she's looking for a nice monitor and is pretty tight with her money.... ty dFx

OK, but the Compaq P910...new. The warranty is worth the difference. Picture is EXCELLENT and a good value for sure. If you can't afford it the 955 is a fine monitor for this price.

As often as I upgrade hardware, I find that I use my monitors much longer. I've been using my current Mitsubishi Diamondpro for > 2 years now. The reason is that it's hard to sell a monitor due to shipping. And most people who buys monitors prefers a warranty on it.

That's odd. I seem to get only a blank page at the EMS web site. Anyone else getting through?

This is a great price. I've been looking for a deal on this monitor. I could get it down to around $220 shipped with the current Dell 15% discount, but this is so much hotter!

Thanks, and let me know how the web works for you....

kbaxter: yeah, they were up a few minutes ago. If you read the recent resellerratings, this is no surprise, problems with the back end.

I've never dealt with them, but EMS is one of the onlines I had mentally crossed off my list.

Was thinking of ordering the 753DF for $111, though.

kenja,

Yeah, it finally came up. They must be getting pounded, what with running the free shipping special today.

I read quite a few of the comments in resellerratings and I thought they were not too bad. Sounds like they do have problems on the back end and that shipping can take some time. But this is $40 less than anywhere else I've seen, so I can wait a bit. They were showing more than 2000 of these in stock when I looked just now.....

Anyone already order and care to share your experience?

:Q

Almost wore out my F5 key refreshing, but I did get through.

On the initial user sign-in page, they say they collect tax for Washington state, but it doesn't show up on the order form; only CA and FL.

I just got off the phone with Staples and i PM the 955DF to the EMScomputing website and applied the $30 off $150 coupon so it made the final price of the monitor after taxes $156 Shipped!!!!! Now i believe that's an AWESOME deal since there is no MIR for it either!!!!!

you can pm this monitor to staples and use the 30 off 150 for even better price. link to 955df at staples

or you can add something free after rebate to get over 200 and use the 40 off 200 or [50 off 200 b&m for nyc]

Vinny, the 900NF is not an older model, it is simply the NaturalFlat series instead which uses Aperture Grille Technology isntead ;)

It is actually a MUCH higher end model than the 955DF, which is the CHEAPER model.

I ordered 2 monitors from them today. I got a KDS 17" monitor for $97 for my friend and I bought the KDS VS-190P (i think) for $151... had a hard time deciding between them all but I saw this monitor at Walmart and it seemed decent and it was SO CHEAP. There was a Samsung on there for $131 but the refresh rate at 1600x1200 was 68hz and the KDS is 75hz at the resolution and 85hz (good) at 1280x1024. Either way... if that company doesn't slack off I"m extremely happy with the deal.
