For everyone who ordered the monitor and never received it:
Make sure you call them and let them know how you feel about
what happened and let them know what they did was unacceptable.

I called them up to let them
know how pissed off I was, and told them what they did was not acceptable. I told them
they can't charge people's credit card, ship out an item and then take it back. We're
not gonna get a refund until 5-7 days AFTER they receive the package back!
I told them the amount of money I've spent there in the past and how I recommended them to
friends and family(which was all true), and this was the last purchase I'd ever make there. I also
told them I would report this incident to the Federal Trade Commision and Better Business Bureau.

After that, they offered me an additional $25
credit to my credit card and a $25 store credit for a future purchase (to be applied
after the purchase). I'm still not totally happy though, but I accepted the offer.
If everyone calls them they'll get the message and hopefully think twice about pulling something
like this ever again.

wow, give it up guys. You aren't going to the sue them and you wouldn't win. Newegg could have eaten the money but I guess the loss was not worth it. I guess the backlash from a few dozen disgruntled Anandtech goobers woudn't mean squat for them and they'd be right.. Until you sign for the package it ain't yours.. Sorry Charlie..

Anandtech goobers helped Newegg get into big business, and even a few dozen can surely change some minds.

After reading all this, I personally will look elseware for my computer parts before choosing NewEgg. I buy a lot of crap there, but customer service like this really pisses me off. I still may buy stuff from there, but they won't be my first choice. My friend actually got one of these monitors. I warned him they might try to get it back and he said, "They can have it back, if they can pry it from my cold, dead hands." 🙂

Right, it helped, but so did my mother last Christmas. It is probably all about economics. I believe in customer service, and in this case I don't think they should have recalled the shipments for a price mistake, but just because they did does not warrant the uproar some of these whiners started. If they made a mistake when purchasing, Newegg would be more accomodating than ANY other online computer merchant... When the inverse happens these whiners want to sue..

For all the great service I got from Neweeg over the years I would have probably returned the monitor had it been delivered, if NewEgg asked nicely. Yeah, I would, and hopefully there are more out there who would do the same...

Nobody said they were going to sue.

Oh, and Dell was 5x more accomodating on an order of similar size than Newegg was, when Dell messed up one of my previous purchases. So they're not the most accomodating online merchant out there, they're second.

😛

5 times huh? Nah, I'd say maybe 3 times.. I am talking over time. I've dealt with Dell, Amazon, Buy.com, MWave, Directron and more. NewEgg and Directron gave me the best service(Directron was walk-in though and they know me now). Amazon sucks until you can find their phone# and get someone live on the phone, butonce you do it is good. I was talking about orders I messed up or products that arrived DOA or even broke later on, not pricing errors. I would not expect any online merchant to honor a price mistake until the product arrives at my doorstep. If they can stop it in time good for them, but in this case $100 on a few hundred units for them probably isn't too bad, though the margins on their stuff is very, very low.. I bet it was one or two people who tried to mop up their mistakes by recalling the shipments..

And yeah, someone insinuated legal action... Stupid.. I dunno, I guess when you're 15 years old and a $250 purchase is a big deal then these types of things can get you going.. To me my biggest annoyance would not be missing out on the deal, it would be having to make sure my credit card gets refunded. The time spent checking and calling is worth a lot to me..

I guess I suck then because im keeping it ....I ordered a product at a price ...and a pretty good price ...Now if I got the monitor fr $25 ..I would say maybe ...but I payed a pretty good price for a monitor ...and they charged my CC and delivered it ..they had plenty of time to cancel my order ike so many have done before...so 😛

What is the use of talking about their great service when they didn't even change the status of the orders after recall. Yet no sign of refund also. When they were so anxious in getting back their monitors, atleast they should have refunded the money as soon as FEDEX confirmed to them that no delivery was made and it is being returned to them.
So don't talk about how great their service is when they cann't refund money promptly and cann't even change the status on their order page!
Ya they are better than some others since we will see our money back!

I didn't order but I'd be somewhat pissed if it happened to me. I've never heard of a retailer going so far as stopping shipments in transit. In fact, looking at the purchase agreement, I don't see where Newegg has reserved the right to do so. If the contract doesn't specify, I believe the seller doesn't have the right to stop the goods in transit if they've already been paid for, or else they breach the contract. I might be wrong though.

That's OK, EvilHomer, I must suck too 'cause I'm keeping mine. I don't see where I've done anything wrong at all. Sometimes I have to suffer the consequences of my mistakes, so I guess Newegg must too.

It's 5x better than Newegg to me, because like I said, I was referring to my own personal experience. Dell offered me a $75 coupon on a $270 order mess up. Newegg offered me $15 (that I never received, mind you, and will have to badger them about, no doubt) for a $250 mess up. $75 is $15 x 5. Five times more accomodating for me. You do bring up a good point, though. I'll have to watch my bank statement and make sure they don't forget to refund me, although it is Newegg and I know them well enough to say they wouldn't forget to do that.

I agree with all of you who ordered at the advert price and did not receive what you paid for. I too have never seen ANY company pull this crap before. Others have advised you to move on ... it's up to you but I would sure be upset.

If you feel that strongly about this then go to RESELLERRATINGS.COM and let the rest of the world know what the great Egg has done.

This community sure is getting soft. A few years ago a number of small companies reps were ruined by reviewers at Ressellerratings for pulling a LOT LESS crap then this! Now we actually have people defending the Egg for pulling this crap!

I did not order this monitor but I almost did. I was SOOO disappointed when they "sold out" (yeah right). Now, if I had actually ordered on e I would be enraged.

After confronting them about this BS, the girl that worked there says that she appologizes for this blah blah and I will be getting free shipping on my next order. She claims that I was sent the wrong monitor. So if Newegg knew for sure I was sent the wrong monitor, I confronted her and asked her which specific monitor did you send according to your system??? *no answer* I gave her more hell so she put me on hold. After returning back, she says she can offer me $35 off + free shipping on the next purchase if I email her with the order number. I checked my inbox and got that same letter everyone was getting with the $15 coupon.

$35 + $15 + free shipping = $299.99 instead of the $261.99 I paid for the deal. Newegg still sucks.

Has anyones status changed from "5". Mine hasn't. So wondering when at least they would return the money, so I can buy elsewhere.

I personally don't care how much coupon they give as they screwed my first order.

Good News. If nothing works atleast putting the complaint thru BBB works.

Just got an email from NEWEGG, stating they would honor my samsung deal. This was in response to my complaint @BBB (www.labbb.com)

So for those who want this, either call 1800-390-1119 ext. 2053 and talk to ADAM.

What should we say to Adam? Or what did you and Adam talk about to finally come to a satisfactory conclusion?

even though I got my monitor ..I got the $15 off coupon in the email..I wonder if it will work ...I should call newegg and explain to them how myself and my wife are so traumatized over this whole thing ..I mean ...How the hell would someone so stupid through away the box before checking with the re-seller {NewEgg) to make sure it was ok to do so ...we haven't been able to sleep since ...How dumb can I be ...sniff ...sniiff ..Im sorry Newegg I don't know what was going through my mind at the time... BTW can I get one of those $35 coupon thingys.....that would sure make me feel better about this whole thing.

Say to him what the problem is and it was to be delivered but taken away. Talk to him softly as he seems to be a very nice person (unlike the people I talked with earlier) and seems to be understanding.

Best of luck.

I did not even order one and think Newegg is completely stupid for not honoring this. Think about it for a second. The price is now $338 and was going for $250 = $88 difference. If they are offering everyone $15 coupon, which brings it down to $73, then they are paying shipping each way - including some special $$ to Fedex to return the stuff during shipping - say another 40-45. So what, they are saving $30/monitor? This does not even include the man hours that they spent preparing each order to ship and the time it took to track down all the incorrect ones and the time it took to get Fedex to send the back.

I understand economics, but how many people are now NOT going to purchase items from them and their friends are not, let alone the bad word of mouth across all of the forums.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.
