Ok, so the real difference between this panel and the 172X is price , design and a 600:1 ratio? I dunno which I shoud get; so confused... I guess the 710T is a better deal because even though the 172 is sexier, I wouldnt mind saving the extra $$$ towards my X800 PE.

Something so you can just sit back and watch the whole screen instead of concentrating on whatever it is you are shooting or doing at the moment?
Just for comparison and evaluation.
Hey, and how's that refurb 9700 Pro running?

I don't see whats so great about this monitor, I'd take a 172x if it didnt ghost like crazy and was affordable. The only thing I would change on the 172x besides the ghosting is that I would make the AC/DC Adapter internal and put some intergrated speakers in it. (Some of the models don't ghost, however rumor is while Sasmung was making the monitor the manufacture stopped manufacturing the 12ms panels and they were forced to switch to something esle. Not to mention I am not sure if I beileve in the "pixel twist" rating system. I beileve that some companies might just be rating the time it takes for a pixel to twist and untwist from yellow to green resulting in a low pixel respone but still you have ghosting. I don't have any real proof but it seems logical as we have some supposedly low response time monitors that ghost like crazy.) The monitor itself is the best looking one I've ever seen. If you the 710T is a gaming monitor well, what about lan parties? Thats not a foldable stand is it? I think the view angle arugement is illogical, how often do you look at your monitor from more than a 60 degree angle? I was running a Nec 1530v which is a 25ms and I just went and got a Nec 1765 that is a 12ms. I can see aboslutely no difference in ghosting, the 1765 does look more colorfull but that has to do with the panel. I know some of the panels use some dithering effect to make it seem like its a 24-bit panel but in reality it isnt. I think one of the AnAnd articles explained what dithering is.

Samsung makes great looking products I cannot really remember a time I have seen ANY of thier products and said that its a design only a mother could love.
I still would like to get a comprehensive review of the 710T before purchasing it, or even better, a side by side comparison of the two panels, since they are in fact almost identical.

Dude..paragraphs. And what the hell are you talking about? The 172x and the 710T both should, in theory (and in my own use) have the lowest amt of ghosting on LCDs period. What is great about the 172x is its design and response time. Sure I agree it looks better than the 710T, but it is also more expensive and not black.
I still have no clue what you are babbling about. These monitors don't ghost like crazy. What about lan parties? are you on crack? It weighs ~13lbs for christs sake. Who gives a sh!t about the stand? All I know is that it is solid, and not too big.

Do you honestly beileve your going to see a difference between a 12ms panel and a 16ms panel? No, you're not. I could careless, how much it weighs. I'd perfer a foldable stand over a solid one.
As for ghosting....

Please tell me where I said you would see a difference between 16 and 12. :roll:Thats fine if you prefer a foldable stand to a solid one, but still, LCDs are already small, and much easier to take to a lan party than any CRT. How much is the stand gonna make a difference? You must be short for space..drive a pinto?
Maybe teh 172x has some strange ghosting problem I don't know about..but I played UT with my 710T and it looked great, and Ive used a Vp171b before.
Yeah, it is 25ms. Might want to check out some with at least 16. That would/should be a big difference.
My setup is a mix of both silver and black: Klipsch 5.1 ultras, the logitech keyboard, and a lian-li PC-65, so both monitors would look good, and in my opinion, both are relatively cheap for the best gaming LCD out there.Originally posted by: Excelsior
If you care more about the look of the monitor, and want silver, get the 172x. If you want black and to spend a bit less, get the 710T. THe screens are pretty much IDENTICAL.Originally posted by: s2kpacifist

I seriously find it hard to believe that 99.9% of computer users would not notice a difference (if you mean non-gamers, then sure). To say there is no difference between 25ms and 16ms in gaming is fvcking dumb. Maybe you don't notice a difference, but I am pretty sure every reviewer and most other gamers notice a difference.
The reason they are amazed with it isn't because it is the god of LCDs, but because they might not have experienced many LCDs before. The only one I had used on my own computer was a VP171B, and I like my 710T more. When you say 4 inches from greatness, you mean youd like a 21"?
WTF?! An LCD with a foldable stand is more of a gaming LCD? ARE YOU SERIOUSLY RETARDED? GTFO!
I brought up car space, because obviously you care if the LCD can fold up as small as possible. I don't know about you, but I don't fvcking walk around with my LCD everywhere. If I go to lans, from my car to the room is no more than 100ft. Does having a folding stand make the least bit of difference? NO. And if someone would manage to completely take off the base of a 710T, they shouldnt be operating a computer.

Anyways, aren't there differences in the panel itself? Alent1234 pointed out that the 710T is a TN screen while the 172X is a PVA. Isn't the 710T 8-bit, and the 172X 6-bit? Is there a noticable difference? Would someone buy a 172X and a 710T please? 😕
