Exploder87, let's try an educate Futurefields from his self labelled 'ignorance':

Gender

Gender identity refers to a person’s internal sense of being male, female, or something else; gender expression refers to the way a person communicates gender identity to others through behavior, clothing, hairstyles, voice, or body characteristics.

Sexual Orientation

Sexual orientation is distinct from other components of sex and gender, including biological sex (the anatomical, physiological, and genetic characteristics associated with being male or female), gender identity (the psychological sense of being male or female),* and social gender role (the cultural norms that define feminine and masculine behavior).
Sexual orientation is commonly discussed as if it were solely a characteristic of an individual, like biological sex, gender identity, or age. This perspective is incomplete because sexual orientation is defined in terms of relationships with others.
Upon this latest point of gays to be confused upon their gender (washroom to use) we expect you, Futurefields, to learn, and help the progression of discussion.

Why doesn't it matter why?

Who appointed you gatekeeper of legitimate reasons to not condone homosexual behavior?

Talk about exclusion, you guys act as if it's illegal for someone to have their own flippin' mind on stuff, ONLY if you disagree with it -- ONLY if those views are contrary to what's in.

You ARE a discriminatory bigot yourself by attempting to legislate "legitimate reasons" why he's not in agreement with homosexuality..

Aren't we free to make up our own minds free from threats of exclusion? Are we living in a free society to believe and feel as we want for NO reason at all?

You don't have to like homosexual behavior. I don't think anyone here is forcing you to watch gay porn.

You can't discriminate though and deny them the same rights as a heterosexual couple simply because you find them icky.

Hypothetical scenario:

A friend of yours comes out as gay, and invites you to their wedding. You attend the wedding, but find yourself in a situation where you have a gay man trying to make eyes with you at the wedding. This person finds you attractive and thinks there is a chance you might also be gay. Or... it might not even matter if he thinks your gay or not, in fact, if your straight that make you even more desirable to him, since you are what is called "forbidden fruit" in the gay community (http://gaylife.about.com/od/gaysexadvice/qt/guycannothave.htm) and after the ceremony this guy approaches you and now are in the situation where you have to tell this guy you aren't gay, but even still, now you know there is a man there who would like to be having gay sex with you, etc etc... it's a horrifying situation for a straight man to be in.

You clearly are not from San Francisco. If you were you would know that this is no different than a woman you're not interested in approaching you. All you have to do is tell them you aren't interested. With your stupid logic we should deny fat and ugly people their rights too.

We separate the mens and ladies rooms why? Because they have different genitals? What difference does it make? People don't go into bathrooms to meet people do they? Why don't we just make all bathrooms unisex if that's the case?

I wasn't even aware that all bathrooms were separated. I've been to many places and that's definitely not the case. If anything when they're separated it's because of logistics. One room has a queue of women trying to use the 10 toilets while one has urinals and one toilet. Go to a movie theater and you'll see this in action. Go to a cafe and you're using the same one most of the time. Half the clubs around here have one giant bathroom which kind of surprises me but then again they have a huge gap under the door so that you can't bring a woman in there to bang after a hot night of dancing. Or a dude if that's your thing.

Seriously how sheltered a life do you live?

Yes. Demonstrably so:
Evidently your lack the knowledge to distinguish between sexual orientation and gender identification.

Care to concede yet another one of your erroneous points? Futurefields, your record of being wrong in this forum is quite solidified.

I've seen gay dudes peer over to look at someone's junk while at a urinal. The guy doing the looking almost got his skull smashed for it, a friend and I had to break the fight up.

The would-be skull-smasher must be the same stupid ass who did this:

"Oh no! A guy looked at my penis! I am so offended I am going to fight him now!"

Maybe I am just desensitized from showering with guys my whole life between sports, the military, and the gym.

Now you want to do away with bathroom privacy? Overreach much?

Don't want to get skull'd, don't look at anyone else's junk. I get offended when anyone outside my wife takes the liberty to do that.

Show some darn respect...keep your eyes on your own junk.

Yeah! We should advocate violence towards everyone who makes a pass at us! And then 90% of all the male population will be shot because they make unwanted advances on women all the time, regardless of the situation.

"But... but... when a gay man looks at my junk it makes me all angry! How dare he glance at my penis. Of course, I reserve the right to stare down any woman I see, because that is natural!"

So disrespect every man you see and peek over a urinal wall because men hit on women? What's wrong with simply respecting straight men?

I didn't advocate violence -- respect my privacy and we won't have any problems. Guys that aren't gay don't want other male advances and have the same right to get offended just as they have the right to like other men.

Obviously staring/looking at someone's privates is rude just as staring at a woman's breasts is while talking to her. Be offended; violence is not appropriate.

That is yet another case of bigotry in action. If a black man whisles at a white woman, she might be offended; there were times that would get him lynched. Hate.

WTF?

Why do we separate public restrooms based on gender? We all use the same equipment at home right?

So why separate them publically?

Because individual mix gender single occupancy bathrooms are expensive and consume a lot of otherwise usable floor space. Many smaller establishments have these as the foot traffic isn't enough to be causing a wait to use the facilities.

You and your flagrant abuse of comparing being gay with being black is laughable. We've established that being gay may have genetic roots (not an established fact) and the other part of it is behavioral.

Being a black is clearly something determined before we're even born, and last I checked, being African-America has nothing to with behavior.

You have to realize why this comparison stinks -- race is something we're irrefutably born with, being homosexual is pretty darn far from being scientifically irrefutable as something that's determined in the womb.

If you honestly think it's appropriate to be violent because a man looks at your junk then you probably need to chill out. It's gross and rude but so is staring at a woman's cleavage or at her breasts or camel toe at the beach. Neither situation warrants violence.
