Who said it was? YOU are the one who did suggest non-involvement may mean non-existence.

Are you forgetting what you even said, boss?

Never said otherwise. Strawman.

A perfectly ignorant alternative, sure.

Boss?

It's not a Strawman at all.

What is "ignorant" about it?

How do you know he didn't respond plenty of times before you were born, and now doesn't need to anymore?

You always talk about what we do or don't "need"...perhaps we can apply that to my deity.

Why not?

I don't know. How do you Know that it has?

Not sure what the last 2 comments refer to.

Since Tornado's etc are indiscriminate and even kill Christians, maybe they should just admit that God has nothing to do with them and "life" simply happens.

We look for explanations for things...I can understand that. But not everything "happens for a reason".

The problem is that once you throw an omnipotent creator into the mix then everything does happen for a reason.

How do you know that sandorski isn't actually God and that the only way to salvation is to send all your money to him?

(I'm getting 20% if this works BTW)

Dude, they know gay marriage doesn't affect them and that isn't the reason why they're actively opposed.

They believe that God's blessing was with the nation as long as gays weren't marrying, and the more and more we get close to "gay marriage", the more and more we'll incur his wrath.

So to spare the world and save this "Christian Nation, they have to fight gay marriage.

At least the Fundamentalists feel this way.
Pretty sure though the founders of our country were not christians but rather deists, a completely different religion.

Plus its amazing to me how people think this one thing will cause us to lose God's blessing and not all the horrible other stuff this country has done in the past.

If God was really so opposed to the gays, why is it that Oklahoma and Kansas are constantly hit by tornadoes and San Francisco just gets fog? You think God is just sitting up in the clouds giving the most epic of face-palms and thinking "these guys have absolutely no clue why they're being smote; I'm trying to get you to accept the gays and love your fellow man like I wrote in my book, me dammit!"? Or maybe people are just using "God's wrath" as a convenient excuse for whatever their personal agenda is... nah, it couldn't be that. Tornadoes are just really hard to aim.

Dude, tell him about the burrito!
There's burritos?

Best. Religion. Ever!

HAIL sandorski. Scourger of dried leaves, sharer of loot, and possible distributor of burritos (if there are burritos. Is that theologically sorted yet?).
Hail sandorski (unless he doesn't share the loot or keeps the burritos.)

I don't get why people are so afraid of gay marriage. I'm a straight Christian Republican male. I don't see how two gay guys or two gay girls getting married affects me at all. No one is going to force me to marry a guy, right? Wait...I take that all back. I'm against gay marriage until the government supplies me with 2 bi girls to marry! YEAH!

Seriously...
Our ancient primate brains can't handle an infinite amount of information. A lot of people like things to be black and white. Binary. That includes rules about what social behaviors are and aren't ok. It's why we tended to form tribes or small groups of close friends: We simply can't remember which of 500 people are not going to stab us in the back, and which ones can be trusted with confiding any wacky thought you might want to express.

"Wait, now I have to remember that it's ok for like-gendered people to marry, too??"
Then panic sets in at the horrendous new overload of information.
"Dammit, my ancient brain can't handle that! This must be stopped! What's next, people marrying across races?"

Off in the distance, the world's tiniest violin starts playing.

And then he promised to never do that again, as evidenced by the rainbow. A promise to not get involved by destroying all life, however, is not a statement that he doesn't care.
...
And who wouldn't love a deity like that?
"Ok, fine, one genocide is enough for me. Then I promise I'm done. Love you!"

Oh, you silly rascal! Think nothing of it!

Don't forget the part where he says 'Except one day I'm going to return to finish off the rest of you.' I would launch photon torpedos at that jerk too.

I've seen the argument used that we are a 'blessed nation' and other such nonsense. That officially accepting gay marriage (forgetting that we already completely accept the 'sin' of homosexuality) would damn us. Obviously god isn't getting involved on that basis, otherwise I would think Uganda would enjoy a better existence than Denmark if that is what mattered.

You know: "Can God microwave a burrito so hot, that even he can not eat it?"

--If not, then he is not omnipotent. If he can...then he is not omnipotent.

There was a thread about something similar on spacebattles a couple of days ago....

You're missing the big picture. Satan cloaks San Francisco in fog so that G-d can't see all the butt sex, therefore no tornadoes.

Besides, don't tornadoes lift stuff up to be closer to G-d? (Granted it's usually in pieces, but still.)

While I do believe we are a blessed nation, denying equal rights to gays because we think the rest of us won't have it as easy doesn't sound very Christian.

Ya, that's not gonna happen again. I'll put it this way, just because she says she's a virgin, doesn't mean she is!:eek:

Increases the efficiency of soul dispersal.

I find it unusual that living in California, I would need to drive to somewhere like Alabama to get gay-married

Well one thing for sure...
From this point on Alabama will no longer have to hear about this or read about this.
Because once the issue is settled, it no longer concerns anyone.
It's not like every day the papers and the media will be announcing whom got married to whom.
The only way someone will hear about this is if their son or daughter gets SS married, or if you get an invitation to a SS wedding, or if you scan the local news papers for marriage announcements and try to determine which might be SS marriages going by the two names involved.
Nothing moots the heated issue like just letting it happen, and from then on it becomes a totally personal matter between two people and their families.
Kind of like picking out a new car color... WHO F-KING CARES???

Lol

I thought California's on-again, off-again gay marriage machine had been turned on permanently?

Pretty much. Except for the blood rain and plagues of locusts, I mean.
