Title says it all. It just went up for sale. I am looking for feedback. I also see Just cause 2 is going up for sale hopefully if it wins.
I have played, Mafia II (decent but not amazing), GTA 1-4 and those I enjoy.

I realize its way over the top weapons and the likes but after reading up on it... there is a very mixed opinion base whether people prefer 1 , 2 or 3.
I dont mind over the top gameplay as long as it is fun.
How are the quests? Generic or decent fun? Graphics don't concern me as much as long as its fun.

Very fun game. It knows it is a game that is meant to entertain you and doesn't take anything serious. Totally worth the price it is on sale. I bought it for like half price and was totally pleased with it at that price.

One of the missions you have a gimp in a BDSM pony outfit pulling you in a cart through the city as you are having a firefight with the bad guys who have their own "pony" pulling them in a cart as well.

You can't make shit like that up.

Nope, I'm not joking. That mission is pretty early on as it free's a person that will join your gang, oh did I mention he needs to use a voice box to speak so he has that whole robotic sound going on lol

The game is totally just a joke. There's like no story at all. I've heard it put that the developers were building a roller coaster and asked fans what their favorite part of coasters were and everyone sais "the part when it drops" so that's all you get, no turns or peak.

Wow just Wow... :p ... yeah I think it sounds like the kinda game you just play for Shits and giggles.... it reminds me of an Xbox 360 game called Crackdown that I loved with a guy jumping in and over buildings killing gangsters and collecting orbs. That game was a blast. Mindless fun but fun none the less.

I like Saints Row the Third... the graphics were alot better than Saints Row 2 (but the plot/story was better on SR2)... They made Shandi very hot in the game - compared to when she was a bummy hipster in the previous game. SR3 just have alot of side missions and some are over the top - one is death game show run by a giant cat where you have to kill people and try not to get kill... Oh and DON'T SHOOT THE PANDA!!.

If its on sale for $10 or less get it... I bought it when it was on sale on Steam for $20 and thought it was worth it. Heck I'm looking to gift it to one of my friends.

Yeah, apparently a lot of people hated the guy (Zemo?), it might be because his voicebox sounds like autotune so him talking can kinda get on your nerves.

No story at all? Did we play the same game?

I ignored the story for a long time as I generally find the stories in GTA type games to be just tedious more than anything. I won't say that it was drastically better or different, but there was enough humorous parts that you'll probably get sucked in some. There's also a nice "twist" when you find out who the mayor is. At least I got a pretty good kick out of it.

Yes its over the top zany a lot, but it works because they committed fully to it.

Its also a lot less buggy and generally much more polished than SR2. I tried playing it after SR3 and it was almost painful. There's a huge gap between them.

Apparently they're going to open up modding tools so its possible SR2 will see some big improvements via the community, since a lot of people seem to really like it but it has some issues. SR3 should get mod tools as well, but we'll see how things go. Since they're focused on getting SR4 finished it'll probably be a long time before we see much and I'm not sure how much they can actually accomplish.

For the most part, pretty nice game, and has some pretty funny things you do...
Watch some youtube clips to get a feel for it.
Though, I wouldn't get it for anyone under 16...

stupid fun, but as with all open world games I can't seem to actually get very far. I do a mission, maybe 2. Then I'm totally side tracked doing random shit and exploring. I have great fun every time I play, I just don't technically make much progress. The total randomness makes the craziness even better. When might see a cop shooting it out with some thugs, then the cop car blows up and a few seconds later a dude in a bunny suit walks around the corner and starts to dance. As if there's not 6 dead bodies and a car burning up. I think part of why I play's just so I can try to catch something crazy and random happening.

The driving feels weird coming from playing a ton of GTA4. Yes, the cars turn faster, but there is also almost no physics going on. Like when you run into other cars it feels like a last-gen game with the lack of physics.

Funny, I actually enjoyed the driving in it as I was actually able to drive my car around. GTA cars handle like dogshit imo

SR:T was hilarious..
The game is a lot of fun, extremely open sandbox....
You can have your friend on the ground in the car, while ur covering him from above in a plane.

The game really needs to be played multi player coop tho.
It was a game where multi player coop was considered primary, and did a very excellent job.

Im waiting to see if SR:4 will accomplish the same, and is probably one of the few games im preordered this year.

I played SR3 for about an hour tonight. . . the beginning of the game is very linear. From what I read I was expecting a GTA-4-alike, but so far there's no real sandbox gameplay going on. I guess I spend more time in GTA wandering the city for no reason :p

Also the driving. . . . the slightest mouse movement makes the screen judder all over the place, it badly needs some mouse smoothing on that.

It is just like GTA in sandbox type. I've maybe done 2 things related to the actual storyline and just basically ran around randomly doing things. I've put about 20 hours into it and barely scratched it. I enjoy the humor in it rather than the "I'm a thug" stuff from GTA, but thats just me.

Sounds like an issue with your system though, I don't have any of what you are seeing.

I am a huge fan of gta4 and its style.. but there wasn't enough seriousness in saints row 3rd to really feel like I am playing in its world. Its almost like postal of gta. Saints 4 looks really good though. If you are looking for more GTA goodness, check out sleeping dogs if you haven't. Great game.

I hate open world games like this, but that game is really fun and well put together. You can actually do missions instead of just goofing around for hours on end
