SR3 is awesome. There is mods to make it even more of a blast too: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2331998

Its also a lot less buggy and generally much more polished than SR2. I tried playing it after SR3 and it was almost painful. There's a huge gap between them.

Apparently they're going to open up modding tools so its possible SR2 will see some big improvements via the community, since a lot of people seem to really like it but it has some issues. SR3 should get mod tools as well, but we'll see how things go. Since they're focused on getting SR4 finished it'll probably be a long time before we see much and I'm not sure how much they can actually accomplish.

SR2 is awesome too and worth getting (On sale now for $3.74!) Also the community has fixed many of the bugs and issues and added many enhancements: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2331839

While I think both the GTA and SR series are awesome at least SR 2, 3 & 4 have co-op for the entire story! ;)

A ton of fun. Great in coop, but it's worth paying the extra $10 for the "full edition" with all the DLC. It gives you more missions, more weapons, more cars and more costumes.

Pretty fun game IMO as long as you don't expect much seriousness in the game. I bought it for $10 in a prior sale and it was well worth it IMO.

The only thing I would complain about is there was not much else to do once the main quests are completed (besides obviously causing random mayhem). For more serious storyline/tone, GTA4 and Sleeping Dogs will fit the bill nicely.

Yup I got it with the THQ's humble bundle deal, quite a fun sandbox game. I do wish you could customize your pads better, bring more people there...etc, kinda like a modded-oblivion.

LOL love driving around on a mission in your TANK. Talk about people panicking all around ROFLOL.

I am a huge fan of gta4 and its style.. but there wasn't enough seriousness in saints row 3rd to really feel like I am playing in its world. Its almost like postal of gta. Saints 4 looks really good though. If you are looking for more GTA goodness, check out sleeping dogs if you haven't. Great game.

I forgot about Sleeping Dogs.. I enjoyed that one thoroughly. I loved the dialogue.

So the DLC is worth it ? Normally outfits dont do it for me.. but yeah extra cars/weapons sounds worthwhile.

I think it's worth it for just 2.50 more. Some of the DLC actually adds gameplay content rather than skins and weapons. The only DLC I would advise against is the 'unlockable' one. Supposedly there's no way of turning the DLC off so you're stuck with the god-mode advantage from the get go.

The worst DLC packs are the Unlockable and Bloodsucker one. Don't know if the season pass is worth it at this point? Unless more DLC is planned but with SR4 close to release?

Luckily the modding community has made mods to remove some of the cheap DLC stuff.

Saints Row 3rd is GTA4 with Dildos and Aliens.

Aliens? Have you played Saints Row 3? You're confusing Saints Row 4 which is not even out yet. GTFO. You haven't played these games with a quote like that. Plus Saints Row 4 is getting an Anal Probe gun. :p

Saints Row 2 is more closer to GTA4 but more zany. They even made a trailer to compare would you rather: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVV3MrQ4SpY

SR3 does have the fun 50s sci-fi movie story DLC which adds alien homies, if you get "the full package" or "season pass" versions.

SR3 is silly fun. If you want to be more serious, play GTA. If you want story missions with titles like "Trojan Whores" play SR3.

Not real Aliens though. It's a mission where you are helping with a Sci-Fi movie being filmed. It's just sexy Women in cheesy Sci-Fi garb like out of Sci-Fi from the 50s/60s.

Is the season pass worth getting at this point? Aren't they done with DLC since SR4 is close to release?

I wouldn't compare GTA to SR. Both are awesome for there own reasons. Plus SR2, 3 & 4 let you play the entire Story with a friend. RockStar games doesn't do co-op.

Saints Row: The Third is one of the most fun games I've played in years. The first mission made you feel like a badass on many levels.

I was going to buy the full pack including all DLC but then reading the issues with the Unlockable and bloodlust dlc and how it pretty much ruins the game I might just pick up the normal $5 version.
I was unable to locate a definitive way to remove those dlcs.

If anyone can give me concrete info on removing them I might consider the full pack. I know some people have had luck getting Steam themselves to remove the particular dlcs.. but that is never a 100% success rate.

I got it part of the Humble Bundle last year and it's a fun game. I played it a good amount, but never really advanced the in the story as the side missions seem to take up a lot of time.

The Full Package does not come with those two.

Also my epic SR3 modding thread links to some DLC locking mods: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2331998

Click package info and see for yourself. (Quick answer: They got a lot of negative feedback and removed them from this edition. They are still sold seperate.)

I just did. I see what you mean. I thought the season pass would force every dlc on me regardless if I wanted it or not. Guess I was wrong. Thanks for pointing that out.

Even if it did which it doesn't. There are two mods I believe. One that just will remove or make it an unlockable feature the Bloodsucker and another that further makes most of the DLC unlockable by the upgrade menu & by missions. Again both linked in my Mod suggestion Thread.

As for the unlock DLC. You'd have to select it in the upgrade menu anyways but again if you did get the DLC ignore it.
